What an incredible story! Stronger Than This will completely engulf you! Not only is the story itself a hell of a ride but Abby McCarthy will make you fall so hard for Mickey!

Stronger Than This is a story of strength and power… determination, love, and learning to trust. It deals with a serious topic though of domestic abuse and Abby McCarthy shows the ins and outs of a victims’ world. What’s wonderful, however, is how she shows Marie’s perseverance and fight for a normal life. It’s inspiring and heartbreaking all at the same time.

Marie married a piece of GARBAGE from another MC. She had a beautiful baby with him, however, and when things got way too out of hand, she puts her plans in place to escape the clutch of this madman with her daughter, no matter the consequences. She ends up in PA, in a small cottage and is immediately befriended by the charming, Irish Silver Fox Mickey, who belongs to the Devils Crusaders MC. This MC she begins to learn, through Mickey’s patience and love, is MUCH different than what she’s been subjected to.

I’m not an MC fan at all, to be honest. But I will ALWAYS read Abby McCarthy’s books! The way she writes is so smooth and full of life. Her portrayal of MC’s are perfection as well. It’s “just enough” of the grime and shade that MC’s are known for, but they are so eloquently portrayed. Stronger Than This built up perfectly in every way and you’re going to go crazy for this book!!!

This book holds a special place in my heart. When I began to read, Abby McCarthy gave me Marie, and within the first chapters she captured my heart and I wanted only the best for this woman. She’s may seem weak at first, but as the title says, she’s Stronger Than This. She’s a bad ass! Finally finding the courage to leave Drake, Marie and her daughter Talon leave in the middle of the night and move to a small town in PA. Strong female characters is my favorite things about an Abby McCarthy book and this book has put it to a new level.

Mickey, we all fell in love with Mickey in Wreck You as Maura’s sexy Dad. The foul-mouthed Irishman, a part of Devil’s Crusaders MC. Mickey isn’t your typical MC hero; he’s sweet, loving, caring and his strength just supports Marie without pushing himself or his needs upon her.

Abby McCarthy takes you on a ride of emotions while restoring your faith in humanity. Marie’s ability to learn to trust a man again isn’t an easy road but with her growing strength and Mickey’s ability to allow her healing to happen organically is what made this love story one of my all-time favorites.

There are a few laughs, absolutely some tears, lots sexy time in Marie and Mickey’s story. Abby’s has made me love these two, they are my family, my friends, my people. I have to say that reading a book with a more “mature” character base makes me smile too. I do love a great YA, or Contemporary romance, but reading a story about a mom and a silver fox just made me smile.

Once again, Abby has written words that will inspire you to allow love back into your heart even after the unimaginable.

The MC book world can often scare me, yup – I am a such a wimp, but Abby McCarthy’s MC’s have the grit that you love from the MC’s with a sweet side too!

Stronger Than This is the stand-alone story of Mickey McCafferty. His story will grab your heart strings and pull them right out of your chest! Mickey has been a major figure in the Wreck You series. He is Maura’s dad. I have not read Wreck You (yet), but was able to follow along fine. I devoured this story in one sitting!

Life is good for Mickey McCafferty. He is Sargent of Arms for the Devil’s Crusaders. He works, he plays, he has a tight knit “family” around him. He doesn’t need anything more.

Marie Bettinger is not so lucky. She was raised in an abusive house and left home at sixteen, never looking back. At twenty two she meets Drake, a member of the Raiders MC, and rides off on the back of his motorcycle never imagining how her life would change. By the time she realizes what a monster Drake is she is isolated and has a young daughter, Talon. But Marie is a fighter and finds a way to escape the abuse. She flees to a small town in Pennsylvania to start a new life with Talon.

“A man’s word was nothing if he used his fist on you. Marriage vows of promising to honor and respect – obliterated.”

Mickey and Marie’s story was amazing. It was heart felt and emotional. Marie tries to stay under the radar while starting fresh. But she just can’t seem to get away from Mickey. She tries to ignore him, but he can’t be ignored! Mickey is a combination of gentleman and roughly sexy. The chemistry between Mickey and Marie is explosive! The sexy time – HOT HOT HOT!

“I don’t know yer story, but I know myself. I’m the type of man that if he sees a woman needs help, he doesn’t walk away. If a man’s any type of man, he helps.”

Marie has scars both inside and out. She pays a high price for her freedom from Drake. But she is stronger than her hurt and stronger for her daughter. The road to freedom has many bumps and pot holes.

Abby McCarthy writes with her heart. She lays it all out there. And when “The End” is written we get a little piece of her soul.

Kerrys’ 4.5 Blush Review

The Wrecked Series is one of my most favorite MC romances, and now having Stronger Than This makes Mickey’s world so much sweeter. If you haven’t read them, you’re missing out!

Marie hasn’t had an easy life. She falls for the wrong guy. He’s seems like the devil. Abused Marie runs away with her daughter as her survival mode kicks in. Marie is so strong. Everything she has endured has made her stronger. Marie is psychically and emotionally scarred.

Mickey comes off as a gruff, hard Irishmen who is a member of the Devil Crusaders. He takes one look at Marie and knows he has to have her. He doesn’t ever give up! Marie has sworn off bikers so Mickey is having a run for his money, so to speak. He knows she is hiding something, but he’s not not so sure what that could be.

Abby grabs your attention with every page. It’s well written. Grab some tissues for the ride as it’s raw, gritty and a bit dark as it obviously hits on abuse. Mickey’s and Marie’s characters blend together so well. Abby makes you fall in love with them. There’s not one part of this book I didn’t like. To get the full effect of Mickey, you should read the complete series. I enjoyed seeing the characters from the other books make appearances. Abby has done an outstanding job with Stronger Than This.

Tera’s 4 Blush Reivew

Stronger Than This is the first book in Abby’s new Devil’s Crusaders series which is a spin-off of her Wrecked Series. I would imagine one would connect and enjoy this story even more if the Wrecked series was read first, but I have not read them and this book reads perfectly as a standalone.

The story begins with Marie being young and naive with the hot alpha biker, Drake, sweeping her off her feet and giving her a life that appeared so much better than the one she’d been living. Her reality turns into a living hell and the abuse she endures for years gets continuously worse. She finally finds the means to escape with her daughter.

“The moment you start to thinking monsters aren’t real, is the moment they attack.”

Once they start to settle, Mickey meets Marie and he must know her. He must have her. Mickey was so sweet. I loved his accent, and I loved that he showed Marie what a real man really acts like. Marie worked so hard to push Mickey away because she needed to stay under the radar to keep herself and her daughter safe.

“Mickey made me tremble because he was a promise of a life I’d always envisioned for myself but could never have.”

Abby has written us another heartfelt love story with just a touch of MC. I’m not huge on MC stories, but I appreciate that it’s never super heavy in her books. It felt just slightly slow in the middle, but the ending really made up for it. Mickey and Marie are destined for each other and the way she stitches the ending up was perfection.
