Reviews ~~ Better/Best Man (The Allen Brothers #1 and #2) by Barbie Bohrman
Synopsis:
Meet Max Allen.
He’s ambitious, too smart for his own good, and very single.
Nicknamed “Max-A-Million” by society gossip types, he thinks he’s got it pretty damn good and he’s right…for the most part.
Meet Daphne Rodriguez.
She’s ambitious, too smart for her own good, and very single.
She works extra hard for everything she has and never complains about the crappy hand life has dealt her.
When Max is presented with the opportunity of a lifetime, it comes with the condition that he must work with the one person he despises most…and wants the most: his sworn enemy, Daphne.
However, Max has no plans of giving Daphne the satisfaction of ever letting her know how he feels about her. Instead, he vows to make her life miserable at every turn.
Which works out perfectly, since Daphne has no intention of making it easy for Max either.
When all hell breaks loose and they’re on a collision course with disaster, these two stubborn people will have to overcome their mutual hatred of each other long enough to work together and get the job done.
For better or worse, they will have to rely on each other to save themselves…and the people they love most.
Louisa’s 4 Blush Review
Ummm…HOT AF…just needed to get that off my chest!
Max and Daphne are a couple you just know are going to get it on, but the push and pull, before they know whats going to happen, is amazing and angsty to watch. The sexual tension is off the charts their snippy banter back and forth will get you going and even giggling at a time.
Daphne is one amazing woman. She’s a hard working woman, determined to give her, her grandmother and her brother a better life. Along comes, Max and she’s leery of his intentions. But Max isn’t what everyone sees in the gossip magazines. He’s a good guy, he’s not always outwardly the best guy, but he has a good heart. I wasn’t the biggest Max fan at the beginning of the book, he was a bit too in love with himself, used his “fame” to his advantage but as he spends time with Daphne, the “real” Max comes out and yeah – I slowly fell for his charms.
“I knew that Daphne was different. But she was more than that…she was a game changer.”
I think an author who can make you love a not-so-loveable character (like Max) is brilliant. We watched as he and Daphne slowly changed and fell in love. Even through a seriously- OMG, out of the blue, holy shit curve ball, these characters remained strong and loyal to who they were. Watching their metamorphosis was stunning.
Synopsis:
Veronica Webber is single again after being in a loveless marriage way past its expiration date. For the first time in a very long time, she feels free and after being burned so badly by love in the past, any thought of romance is the last thing on her mind.
In walks a man from her past, Trevor Allen, a tall, dark, and handsome womanizer who is usually all about the bottom line. For Trevor that bottom line has always been made up of the countless notches on his bedpost. But when he sees Veronica after so many years, he can’t help but be drawn to her and know her again… even if that means being friend-zoned from the start.
As this unlikely pair spends more and more time together, they quickly realize that there might be something between them that goes past “just friends.” But there’s just one tiny detail that makes this situation slightly more complicated… Trevor was Veronica’s ex-husband’s best man at their wedding nine years ago.
So when past mistakes and indiscretions come back to haunt them, will their happily ever after end before it even gets started?
Or will the best man win this time.
Louisa’s 4 Blush Review
I have a few friends who are HUGE Barbie Bohrman fans and have been telling me amazing things about her books and I owe those friends a HUGE thank you!
This isn’t’ just a love story. It’s a second chance in the most unconventional way. Veronica is newly divorced and has been making a few changes in her life. The one night she decides to let loose, Trevor – the Best Man from her wedding sees’s her embarrassment. But there’s a twist – Trevor and her ex-husband – not friends anymore.
The sparks that fire between these two, the friendship they attain should be #RelationshipGoals for all!
Trevor – known for his manwhoring ways has met his match in Vern. There is some angst and some sweetness too and yeah – some serious sexy too! Barbie Bohrman has given me a book that has love, second chances, and friendship.
Beach reads are upon us, and this book is a definite beach read!
(I read book one at the beginning of the summer but you can read this just sitting on your couch with a glass of wine or a big cup of coffee!)

Excerpt:
“Shhh,” I said trying to soothe her impatience. “Do you feel that, Daphne?”
“Yes.”
I pressed a soft kiss to the corner of her mouth. “Do you want more?”
“Yes,” she whispered eagerly into my kiss.
With her legs securely wrapped around me, I inched forward until my cock was completely sheathed. And in that first moment of being fully seated inside of her slick heat, I knew that I was a fucking goner. This was it. That was all it took for me to know that I was ruined for any other woman; this right here…this moment with Daphne meant more to me than I had expected it to. And it wasn’t because I was finally fucking her. What I was experiencing as I pulled myself out and pushed myself back in, inch by inch, was something beyond physical, something that connected and grounded me to her and this moment more than with any woman before her.
I knew that Daphne was different. But she was more than that…she was a game changer.
Time seemed to slow and come to a stop. The music pumping around us, the crowd beneath us, the strobe lights that flickered on and off, all of it couldn’t compare to the electricity we created between us.
Leaning forward, I rested my forehead against Daphne’s, feeling slightly overwhelmed by everything that led up to this inevitable moment. Both of us were breathing heavy and shakily. “Jesus fucking Christ, Daphne, you feel so goddamn good.”
Her hands reached up and looped around my neck, pulling me down closer to her, tighter, as if I would ever leave. And then, after a few staggering breaths, barely brushing my lips, she said, “Kiss me, Max.”
