Review ~~ Sustained by Emma Chase
Sustained (The Legal Briefs #2)
When you’re a defense attorney in Washington, DC, you see firsthand how hard life can be, and that sometimes the only way to survive is to be harder. I, Jake Becker, have a reputation for being cold, callous, and intimidating—and that suits me just fine. In fact, it’s necessary when I’m breaking down a witness on the stand.
Complications don’t work for me—I’m a “need-to-know” type of man. If you’re my client, tell me the basic facts. If you’re my date, stick to what will turn you on. I’m not a therapist or Prince Charming—and I don’t pretend to be.
Then Chelsea McQuaid and her six orphaned nieces and nephews came along and complicated the ever-loving hell out of my life. Now I’m going to Mommy & Me classes, One Direction concerts, the emergency room, and arguing cases in the principal’s office.
Chelsea’s too sweet, too innocent, and too gorgeous for her own good. She tries to be tough, but she’s not. She needs someone to help her, defend her…and the kids.
And that — that, I know how to do.
KERRY’S 4 STAR REVIEW
Jake had is life figured out he was a great defense attorney and women were his playground, when he ran into unexpected curveball, he didn’t realize what he was missing. Jake was knocked of his game when he got the likes of Chelsea. Jake didn’t want to date he just wanted to play, things in is world started changing and he became a Mr. Mom, going to mommy and me classes, Jake has no idea how this happened but he knew he didn’t want it.
Chelsea entire life changed in an instant, she is no longer a twenty six years old graduate student now she is a full time parent to six children after a tragic accident kills her brother and her sister in-law. Chelsea finds herself having a difficult time balancing it all. Chelsea is doing the best job she knows how just like any parent but when she finds one of the kids in a sticky situation.
Then Jake walks in to help her out.
Jake and Chelsea balance each other out in so many ways but Jake is fighting his own demons about relationships so the only way he knows is to walk away from Chelsea but still helps with kids and stays friends. Chelsea and Jake weren’t looking for a built in family this isn’t the way their life was to go, but who plans their life? Life throws us a curve balls and the ones that are thrown at these two have been ones that would have anyone else run.
Emma Chase has written a hilarious, sweet romantic comedy full of chaotic antics, laugh out loud, sinfully sexy and a bit of a tear jerker, there are moments you will want to yell at Jake a few times but above all it’s a all around great book that you will devour Sustained in one sitting!
