Review ~~ Cocky Bastard by Penelope Ward & Vi Keeland
Cocky Bastard
He was someone who belonged in my wildest fantasies instead of a rest stop in the middle of Nebraska.
A sexy, cocky, Australian named Chance was the last person I expected to run into on my cross-country drive.
When my car broke down, we made a deal. Next thing I knew, we were traveling together, spending sexually-tense nights in hotels and taking unplanned detours.
My ordinary road trip turned into the adventure of a lifetime. It was all fun and games until things got intense.
I wanted him, but Chance wouldn’t make a move. I thought he wanted me too, but something was holding him back.
I wasn’t supposed to fall for the cocky bastard, especially when I knew we’d be going our separate ways.
All good things must come to an end, right?
Except our ending was one I didn’t see coming.
From the moment, I saw the name Cocky Bastard and who the authors were Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland, I knew I had to read this book. It certainly lived up to all my expectations. A road trip, a stop off in Vegas, a hot Aussie, a fainting goat and an uptight chick, all prove to be key ingredients to make for a purely entertaining read! The main words that come to mind are fun, flirty, witty and sexy… but as light as it appears, the book still had an undertone of something more serious. I could not help but love this storyline and don’t even get me started on my love for the cocky bastard himself, Chance Bateman. That boy is seriously hot and swoon worthy. He is way more then meets the eye! Besides being ridiculously hot, he has a heart of gold. Audrey Bloom starts off rigid and cold, but just being around Chance loosens her up! You quickly begin to love her. The true break out star of the book is a goat named, Mutton, Esmeralda snowflake, Pixy. Just his many names have you laughing! He stole the show in all his scenes….
As soon as Chance and Aubrey meet it is fireworks, sarcasm and hysterical banter! Their chemistry jumped off the pages. Chance is one smooth operator that is impossible to resist. Aubrey is a little feisty thing that keeps Chance on his toes. They are both wonderful characters, but put them together and it’s positively captivating. There are two very different parts to this book. The first half is in Aubrey’s POV. It’s light hearted, playful and steamy. The second part, changes gears and is in Chance’s POV. It turns serious and that’s when our hearts get involved. It’s the type of book that if you have the time, you will read in one sitting. It is that great!!
Go get this book and fall in love with Chance, Aubrey and their goat. You will not be disappointed. I hope Penelope and Vi decide to join forces again and give us more. They make for a perfect pairing!
