Alta Hensley is a new author to me. I really enjoyed Filthy Fight. Mateo and Julep are a perfect couple. They both fight for what they know is right. This is both a sports romance and a second chance romance. Mateo is looking for redemption. He’s made mistakes that destroyed his career. He’s seen as a disgrace and often shamed, but with the circumstances that took place, I eventually understood him.
Julep is a co-owner of Shamrocks, her family gym. The gym needs a strong fighter; one that will take them out the red and save their gym. Julep has her eyes on Mateo, “Matador.” She is a shrewd businesswoman who is both strong and fiesty. The connection between them is instant, but they know it needs to be about business.
Mateo has a dark side and temptation constantly lurks at his side. There’s so much going on throughout this story, I don’t want to spoil it. There are some things that will break your heart, but Alta does mend it back together. I devoured this book in one sitting. This book is unique as it is part of a series, but each book is written by a different author which I can’t wait to check out!
