Emma decided to skip the gym and went home early. It was the last easy decision she made because she found her roommate being raped by the boyfriend. She had two choices. Call the cops and be killed by his family’s mafia connections or kill him first and hope to survive. There was no choice to her. She killed the bastard first and went to the one person who could protect her. Carter Reed. He’s a weapon for the rivaling mafia family, but he’s also Emma’s secret. Not only was he best friends with her brother, but she’s the reason he became that weapon in the first place.

I loved the whole premise of this story. Hot alpha Carter Reed, mob hitman, saves the day, of strong willed Emma. This has high adrenaline, tons of action and twists and turns galore. I love when a story has a lot going on.
Although I did really like the story, the love scenes sorta ….
I wished that there was a little more umph in the umphing scenes. I also think that if there was just a bit more of a back story to connect Carter Reed and Emma together in the past then I would have bought into the whole instant love connection.
There was a scene where Carter had Emma stand up and turn around so he could make sure it was her, however then we find out that he has been keeping tabs on her all along. It didn’t add up so well for me. There was another explanation of how Emma knew her roommate and that was also unclear.
If those things would have been different this story could have been a complete home run for me. So its 3 stars cause its a great story but could have been a lot higher had some things been a bit different.
