#FiveBlushRead ~~ A Honest Lie by Tarryn Fisher
Louisa’s 5 Blush Review
I will read everything and anything by Tarryn and with each release, I become a bigger fan. This gripping thriller had me within the first few pages, hooked and reading Up All Night.
Rainy has a secretive past, one she hasn’t shared with anyone, not even her boyfriend Grant. She has moved across the country to live with him in a little town. Everyone knows everyone so coming in as the “new” girlfriend is challenging, coming into a tight-knit group of couples proves challenging.
The girls invite Rainy to a fun-filled weekend in Vegas…only one problem. Las Vegas is the LAST place that Rainy ever wants to be again.
This book is told in the past and present. Rainy’s past was in a cult, in Las Vegas when she was known as Summer. I was fascinated by everything that happened in her past even more than what was happening in the present, to be honest. A life that I couldn’t imagine is the life that Summer leads as a child.
This thriller is an absolute FIVE BLUSH read and I have already recommended all my friends to get it as it’s a MUST READ of 2022.
Tera’s 5 Blush Review
This was a Tarryn Fisher hit for me! I could not read this book fast enough! I wanted to ignore the children and the husband and figure out what on earth was going to happen next. This book took the thriller and mystery aspect of a good book and jammed them together in one fabulous story!
I refuse to give away any part of this book because I fully appreciated going in blind. I never read the synopsis, and I think it added to the ride. I will say this story is truly unique in nature and definitely did not go the way I had thought. And unlike some thrillers, there is a resolution at the end which many readers will appreciate.
All I can say is give this book a chance since my review is so vague. It was definitely a wild ride.
Synopsis
Lorraine—“Rainy”—lives at the top of Tiger Mountain. Remote, moody, cloistered in pine trees and fog, it’s a sanctuary, a new life. She can hide from the disturbing past she wants to forget.
If she’s allowed to.
When Rainy reluctantly agrees to a girls’ weekend in Vegas, she’s prepared for an exhausting parade of shots and slot machines. But after a wild night, her friend Braithe doesn’t come back to the hotel room.
And then Rainy gets the text message, sent from Braithe’s phone: someone has her. But Rainy is who they really want, and Rainy knows why.
What follows is a twisted, shocking journey on the knife-edge of life and death. If she wants to save Braithe—and herself—the only way is to step back into the past.
This seething, gut-punch of a thriller can only have sprung from the fiendish brain of Tarryn Fisher, one of the most cunning writers of our time.
