So remember how I said I couldn’t wait to read Grind, the second book in Sawyer Bennett’s Legal Affairs series because I wanted to know if it picked up where book one, Clash, left off? Guess what! It does!! YAY!! And it raises the bar on the hot-meter for sure!!

When Clash ended, Macy was in need of a lawyer, and Cal was the one for the job. Working together as lawyer and client added a twist to their already complicated relationship. You know the kind! I hate you, but must have you, and now I have to represent you. To make things more complicated, Cal finds that he wants more than hot sex with Macy. He wants dinners, and movies, and sleep-overs. Macy wants nothing to do with those. She is pretty content (or so she wants to keep believing) with the incredibly hot “love me and leave me” arrangement that they have. As they each review and refine what they want from the other, Cal and Macy reveal more to us about who they really are.

There are so many layers to this story! Of course, there is the HAWT passion between Macy and Cal, but that’s just one layer. There is also a layer about pushing boundaries and setting limits, both your own and someone else’s. Still another layer is about breaking down walls and re-evaluating expectations. It is all of these layers that make Grind so much more than a hot read.

I’m going to tell you right now that the cliffhanger at the end of Grind makes the one at the end of Clash look like small potatoes! Seriously. I had a WTF moment where I may have actually said those words out loud, and I may have actually cursed Sawyer Bennett. AND IT WAS SO WORTH IT!! I can’t wait to get my hands on Yield. I’ll let you know when I do!
