Book Description:
Jessica Mackey is living a meticulously fabricated lie of necessity. She’s left the secret tragedy of her past behind along with who she was and is forging ahead with a clean slate. Jess soon discovers that passion can’t be left behind; her own and that of the one man that sees who she really is. Whose presence caresses her soul in a way that may breach the peaceful life Jess has made for herself.
Devin Castile sees a young woman that is the missing puzzle piece to his existence and who is also the victim to a heinous crime. Devin convinces himself that he can remain emotionally distant even while indulging his physical desire for her. When the lies that Jess has made crumble before their attraction and the truth is revealed, one of them might pay with their life… or their very being.
Review 3.75 Stars
A Terrible Love starts with an extremely intense scene that set the stage for the dark, dramatic story that is Jessica/Jewell’s story. I have to say, Marata Eros knows how to write beautiful descriptions, ones that just captivate you with their essence.
In the beginning, we meet Jewell, who is now Jessica and running from her past and hiding out from danger. I could feel the foreboding in the story and sense the danger that she was in. She is a ballerina with a gift for the dance and the way the scenes of her dancing are written, I could sense how she would become part of the music when she danced.
Then there is Devin ‘Cas’ Castile…he is sexy, alpha, and the intensity between him and Jewell is off the charts erotic. There is a turbulent feel to their relationship that is fueled by secrets on both sides.
I want Devin Castile and have agreed to his terms. He just doesn’t know why. A decision fueled by lust, secured by my desire for anonymity. Perfect. Or so I believe. I watch him walk off, a mountain of lethal tattooed muscle: purposeful, intense, sexual. And soon to consume me.”
Whew! The pages of my e-reader were burning up when those two were together.
There are many key players outside of Jewell and Cas – Brock, Brad, Mitch, Carlie, Patrick Boel, and Shelby. I really enjoyed the scenes with Carlie, Jewell’s best friend at school. Carlie had sass and was very real. I loved her personality! And what was with all those guys?? Brock, Brad, Mitch? I loved Brad’s personality and wished there was a little bit more with him in the end. Brock – jerk! And then there is Mitch – his personality gave me whiplash at times and every time Jewell was with him I wanted to reach through my e-reader and shake the girl! Gah!
Okay so let me say, that in the beginning, it took me a bit to get fully engaged in the story as there were many pieces of Jewell’s life that were introduced. And I’ll admit I grew up on mystery novels (Nancy Drew anyone?), so about 70% in I guessed how I thought it might end and I was mostly on track. I was a little disappointed that I sleuthed it out but there were a couple surprises thrown in that I didn’t guess. The epilogue provided a very nice wrap-up.
Overall, this was one that I enjoyed for the intensity, some steamy scenes, and for the danger factor. I also found myself caught up in the Marata Eros’ use of words and descriptions.

This book sounds really good 🙂
I could not put this book down. I stayed up half the night and woke up early so I could finish it! Can’t wait for Cas’ POV!
I’ve been on the fence about this one…though I’m also pretty good at deducting the endgame in books, I think I might give this one a try. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it!
