#AuthorInterview #Review ~~ On The Corner of Love And Hate by Nina Bocci
Louisa’s 4 Blush Review
Slow burn, enemies to lovers and small-town romance all mixed into one…a romance reader’s dream.
Cooper and Emma have been friends since childhood. As children, the mayor and governor they spent lots of time together as kids. As they grew up – things began to change, but Emma wasn’t who Cooper choose, and that changed their relationship. In college, Cooper dated Emma’s freshman roommate – they lost their way, but after college, they found themselves back in Hope Lake and working at the same job. There is some serious hate going on between these two. Cooper the ladies man and Emma always picking up his slack. But all along, there is a friendship buried beneath the hate and anger.
The slow burn was sloooooowwww…A little slower than I had hoped but worth the wait. The back and forth was just enough to keep you going, keep you turning the pages only to see when they would figure each other out. Nina Bocci’s writing is clean and precise and descriptive enough that I thought I was in Hope Lake with her characters.
I read this book in one day – if only I were on the beach, it would have been better. A perfect, end of the summer read. Some politics, some friendship, some sexy – all the good stuff in one book. I am so looking forward to more from Nina Bocci – can’t wait for Nick and Henry books in the future!
Sandy’s 4 Blush Review
Emma Peroni is smart, sassy and a complete workaholic. Her work load is out of control. Then her Dad, the town Mayor, asks her to help his protégé seem less lothario and more “mayoral’. That’s when things start to get interesting!
Cooper Endicott is the heir apparent to a political Camelot. He’s wealthy, handsome and has a penchant for trouble. He wants to be a better man but changing public opinion is not going to be easy.
Emma and Cooper now have to work together. Not easy considering the perceived betrayal of an impetuous youth standing between them. It colors their uneasy peace and the increasing attraction between them.
On the Corner of Love and Hate is a really slow burn, friends to enemies to frenemies romance. I loved the colorful characters, including the requisite mean girl and small town vibe. The writing is funny and smart with a little heat. This was an easy enjoyable read also suitable for those that don’t want or need a red room of pain.
Kerry’s 4 Blush Review
I love a good friend to enemies story, and Nina Bocci did it so well in this book!. On the Corner of Love and Hate is set in a small town, which I wish was real. Hope Lake sounds absolutely beautiful, Nina Bocci’s attention to detail in her writing made me feel like I was there!
Emma and Cooper were best friends growing up, but once they head off to college, they lost touch. Both are back in their hometown working together. Honestly, I couldn’t stop smiling while reading. Cooper just knows the right buttons to push with Emma. If she could strangle him, she would.
Cooper is flirtatious, witty, and Emma is so no-nonsense and doesn’t know how to let loose. They are part enemies part friends, which made it hilarious to watch these two go at each other.
Emma knows her job and definitely knows how campaigns are run, now that Cooper running for me she is not surprised that she was asked to help.
This is a slow burn romance, and I love how it unfolded. I did struggle in the beginning, wanting these two connect, but as I continued, it began to come together seamlessly. I really enjoyed the journey of rediscovering. Nina Bocci had my emotion meter climbing throughout the book, and I can’t wait for more.

Author Interview
What is your writing kryptonite? (Facebook?? NetFlix?) I can kill a day watching recipe videos on Facebook Pasquale Sciarappa is a favorite. Netflix, forget it. Obsessed is an understatement. They’re both a hot mess for me but I love it. Sometimes, it’s nice to just sit, vedge out on the couch with your kiddo and binge-watch Queer Eye.
What’s your favorite under-appreciated novel? I love, love, love Sarah Mayberry’s Her Worst Best Mistake and Ruthie Knox’s About Last Night.
It’s been a while since Roman Crazy with Alice Clayton – have you been writing this book since then? How long did it take to write this book? It has been a while. This didn’t take quite that long. I’m still working as a publicist, I’ll never give that up, so time was/is limited. I work on things as I get time. Thankfully, these three are done! I can’t wait for everyone to read.
How amazing is it to collaborate with Alice Clayton? She’s one of the best Rom/Com writers out there. I did see some funny moments show up in On The Corner of Love and Hate, did this come through from your experience writing with Alice? The experience with Alice was fun. This is more my humor, then a blended comedy that we got with Roman Crazy. We had to find a middle ground with that one, which I adored but this is my drier, snarky humor.
In Roman Crazy, you reference Italy quite a bit and in On The Corner of Love and Hate you mention Philly (the University of Penn and Drexel Universities) a lot, have you spent time in Philly? (Well – I met you in Philly 2x but other than doing signings!!) YES! Will I see you again in November? I love Philadelphia and try and get there as often as possible. With Roman Crazy, I had just gotten back from a trip, when that idea struck. For On the Corner, I wanted to highlight PA. Philly is somewhere that I spend a lot of time because I’m nearby, and have a ton of family there.
Is Hope Lake a real place you have been or did you write it with a certain place in mind? (If so, want to visit there, it sounds delightful!) Well, thank you! It’s not, exactly. It’s based on a bunch of small towns across PA that I’ve visited. So, every piece; businesses, homes, events, are all real just not in one place. I wanted to merge it all together to create a town that I wanted to visit, and hopefully, everyone else does too.
Are we getting Nick & Henry books? Yes! Henry is up next to MEET ME ON LOVE LANE (December), and Nick is in THE INGREDIENTS OF YOU AND ME (April)
We haven’t seen the end of Whitney yet have we? She’s got a story in itself I feel… Whitney is a trip. She will pop up eventually. . .
Are your characters based off people you know? All of them are based in some part on real people. Like Cosmo, the names have been changed to protect the innocent J
