INTERVIEW WITH RACHEL VAN DYKEN
Rachel – thank you so much for visiting The Blushing Babes Are Up All Night Blog. We are honored to have you here!
BBAUN: For someone not familiar with this book or the new series, can you give our readers a brief idea of the story?
Rachel: Matchmakers is basically about two college friends who decide to start a matchmaking app and dating service for the girls on campus—Lex is the brains behind the operation and Ian is the smooth talking man whore who claims he can get any girl her man.
BBAUN: Recently you had a series that was on the “romantic comedy” spectrum – The Consequence of Loving Colton/Consequence of Revenge. I felt like this book (and hopefully this series) was similar. I laughed out loud more than once while reading. Do you find it hard to write funny romance or is the more serious romance easier?
Rachel: Honestly it just depends on what mood I’m in! I just finished one of my mafia books where there is a lot more angst and sadness, though I do have to balance it with a lot of happy. I’m not sure what comes easier because I always try to have a healthy does of both.
BBAUN: I see you have written an paranormal romance last year (hiding my head in shame, I haven’t read it yet), how different was that process of writing for you?
Rachel: Oh my gosh it was incredible! I wanted to try something a bit darker, a bit different, and surprisingly readers really embraced it! The process was pretty similar, the only issue was the work building which was a lot more different for me than writing something like a contemporary romance.
BBAUN: In your writing process, do you outline or plot where you want your story to go or is your process more organic with you following the story wherever it takes you?
Rachel: My process is very organic, I always allow the characters to lead the story rather than me leading the characters.
BBAUN: You have the chance to meet one author – who do you choose?
Rachel: Oh wow! Alive or dead? I would probably choose Tolkein or CS Lewis.
BBAUN: Since we read a lot of books that keep us up all night, what are you reading that keeps you reading late into the night?
BBAUN: I just finished Audrey Carlans latest Resisting Roots and stayed up way past my bed time to finish!

LOUISA’S 4 STAR REVIEW
I just absolutely enjoy reading Rachel VanDyken books.
She’s such a fun writer to read. She makes me laugh and she makes the butterflies in my stomach go off with every book.
If you enjoyed The Consequences of Colton – you will really LOVE this book.
We have Ian – the ex NFL player – who returns to college after a career ending injury, he returns to school but is just now a different kind of PLAYER. He has made a job out of being a “wingman” for desperate women. He doesn’t try to change them, he just gives them the support, encouragement and ability to get the man of their dreams. I love that he’s a good guy, he’s not disrespectful of his clients, I think deep down he genuinely wants to help his clients. That can’t be said for the girls he hooks up with, which btw is NEVER his clients. He and his partner Lex are the ultimate plyers – get themselves a little nookie and then they roll. They are so not the “commitment” guys that their clients are looking for.
I just love Gab, she’s Ian’s best friend and she has a few new room mates and one of them has just captured the eye of Ian. Not for the reasons you would think – she wears big sweatshirts and basketball shorts and Adidas flip flops.
They become friends and she’s a client but as I said – there is no fraternizing with clients.
The laughs in this book literally had me lol-ing! <—- is that a word?
I needed this book! – You need this book!
