Synopsis:
He’s used to winning, but now he’s playing with his heart.
Jude Braddock. Hockey god. That’s how everyone sees him now. But when they were teenagers, Zoey knew him as the kid who didn’t have enough nerve to make a move on their one and only disastrous date. Seems he doesn’t have that problem anymore, though. According to the rumors, he’s with a different woman every night. After a rough divorce, the last thing Zoey needs is more heartbreak. But Jude’s cocky, playful attitude is mighty hard to resist.
Jude knows he isn’t built for long-term relationships. But he’s getting sick of women pounding on his door in the middle of the night looking for a rematch. When Zoey comes back into his life, it’s like fate has given him a second chance. He’ll do anything to make her happy again. Is this what love looks like? He has no idea. All he knows for sure is that this time, he’s playing for keeps.
Nicole’s 4 Blush Review
Man-whore/hockey God, Jude Braddock has just about hit the bottom. Not of his game, his personal life. His junk pic is all over the internet, girls he didn’t want to see again are showing up at his door looking for another chance with him in the sack, and he and his closest friend are on the outs. With this much negativity swirling around him, he’s going to need something pretty big to get him straightened out.
Zoey Quinlin is nobody’s fool, at least she used to be. Now, it seems that she can’t stop playing the fool. Her soon-to-be ex won’t sign the divorce papers for the divorce that he wanted. She’s living in a hotel, and she is starting over in her career. She didn’t used to be this person. She used to be wild and full of life. What’s it going to take to remind her of who she really is?
How about a blast from the past? Jude and Zoey knew each other before growing up and adulting got in the way. They were each other’s teenaged, summertime crushes so long ago. A chance meeting with Jude’s youngest sister brings Zoey back into Jude’s life. And that’s when the story gets really interesting!!
I really enjoyed this book! I found that the depth of the characters and the layers of the story made it very easy for me to get caught up in the book and forget that I was “stopping at the end of this chapter!” I blew through this book in just over a day. Not because the story was an easy read, though it was. I could not put this book down! The story and characters were so engaging that I kept wanting to see what happened next. I was bummed when the book ended because there was so much more I wanted to know and I didn’t want it to end!! That said, I like where the author stopped because it makes room for the story to continue in the next installment in this series, Slammed. I cannot wait to read that one!
