Review: UNLOCKED (The Alpha Group #3) by Maya Cross
The breathtaking conclusion to the USA Today best selling Alpha Group Series.
Who is Sebastian Lock?
The heart can lead you to dangerous places. Abandoned by the man she loves, with nothing more than sweet words and riddles for an explanation, Sophia Pearce felt like her life was crumbling before her eyes. And then they came for her. Now, things will never be the same.
Confronted with the truth about Sebastian’s identity, she’s thrust into a high stakes world beyond anything she could have imagined. A world that threatens much more than just her feelings. Sebastian’s enemies will stop at nothing to get what they want, and they want her.
The energy between them is as intense as ever, but as the danger mounts, and loyalties are tested, Sophia must answer one simple question. What is she willing to risk for love?
This book will be approximately 45,000 words, or about 160 printed pages. It contains erotic content and a dominant man who always gets what he wants in the bedroom. It is intended for readers aged 18 and over.
Nicole’s Review 4.5 Stars
Until I read Unlocked (The Alpha Group #3) by Maya Cross, I never really understood the idea of a book hangover. I mean, there have been books in my life that when I was finished, I felt a certain sadness or let down. The end of The Alpha Group Series left me bereft. I wanted more intrigue, romance, hot sex, good looking, mysterious men and independent, quick thinking women! Those needs were met so well in all 3 books that I felt kind of cut off at the end!!
Unlocked is the final installation in Cross’ The Alpha Group Series. In this one, the book picks up right where the last one left off. Again, I said it in my review of Lockout…you have to read these books in order! There is very little recap and you need the previous books to understand what is happening in book #3. In Unlocked, we read the rest of Sebastian and Sophia’s story. We see them really fall for each other, in spite of all of the drama that surrounds them. And there is a lot of drama…subterfuge, kicking in doors guns drawn, alliances tested and trust broken! Oh my! It was a little bit of James Bond and Jason Bourne all rolled into one!! I LOVE that! Sophia and Sebastian really have to trust each other and not just in the bedroom. Sebastian still wants to push Sophia’s boundaries there, but he also has to earn her trust in him after a series of events occur that put her in danger because of him. We finally find out just what Sebastian is up to. He is in it thick! As a result, there are those who want to hurt him and they will use anything/anyone to get to him. In all of that, Sophia finds out just how tough she is! She doesn’t fall apart; she uses her head and thinks things through. She stands up for herself when she goes after the backstabbing coworker for forcing Sophia out of her job. For all of the drama in her life, Sophia could have crawled into bed wearing yoga pants and eaten a carton of ice cream, but she doesn’t! She digs in!
I loved Unlocked!! I love that the story continues and maintains the pace of the other 2 books. I love that Sophia and Sebastian really grow as a couple and a team. I love the ending. (That’s all I’ll say about it. I don’t want to give anything away!) I also love that we get Sebastian point of view too! I hadn’t expected that! I also didn’t expect the book hangover at the end. I’m getting over it…sort of!! My rating…4.5 stars! Read it!

Maya Cross is a writer who enjoys making people blush. Growing up with a mother who worked in a book store, she read a lot from a very young age, and soon enough picked up a pen of her own. She’s tried her hands at a whole variety of genres including horror, science fiction, and fantasy, but funnily enough, it was the sexy stuff that stuck. She has now started this pen name as an outlet for her spicier thoughts (they were starting to overflow). She likes her heroes strong but mysterious, her encounters sizzling, and her characters true to life.
She believes in writing familiar narratives told with a twist, so most of her stories will feel comfortable, but hopefully a little unique. Whatever genre she’s writing, finding a fascinating concept is the first, and most important step.
The Alpha Group is her first attempt at erotic romance.
When she’s not writing, she’s playing tennis, trawling her home town of Sydney for new inspiration, and drinking too much coffee.
