Review Tour ~~ The Invitation by Vi Keeland
Christina’s 4.5 Blush Review
Starting 2021 off with a BANG! LOVED THIS BOOK! The Invitation by Vi Keeland was exactly what I needed to restore my faith in the idea that 2021 WILL be better than 2020. Ha!
Stella and Hudson just might be one of the best couples I’ve read in a loooooong time. There is very little petty or immature nonsense between the two of them. There’s wit and banter, and some mild angst in the beginning. But once they get going, they really cut the crap and actually LIKE spending time together. It was so REFRESHING! This couple is mature! I loved everything about them.
Stella is quirky, beautiful and wicked smart. I love when successful heroines are also a little bit strange. It makes them more interesting and relatable to me. Stella is a unique and fresh character with baggage that is legitimate instead of obnoxious. I really really loved her.
Hudson is sweet. Laawwwd is he sweet. And slightly jealous in an attractive way that isn’t overbearing or pig-headed. Again- refreshing! He’s wealthy, successful, super duper hot and a single-dad. Watching these two fall for each other was so much fun. They eased into their relationship with minimal angst and a whole lotta hotness. There are some intimate scenes in this book that may light your kindle on fire….reader beware! I found myself blushing on numerous occasions.
I think what really brought this story together for me was the deep emotional turn the book would eventually take that really tugged at my heartstrings. I love when a book makes me feel anxious, sad, angry, and then tearfully happy almost all at once. I wasn’t expecting to feel so much from this story. Such a pleasant surprise!
The only thing that kept me from rating this book a 5 is that the further I got into the story, the more mismatched the title appeared to me. It doesn’t take away from the story, but it doesn’t add anything to it either.
At the end of the day, The Invitation is my favorite Vi Keeland book yet!! Thank you, Vi, for introducing me to Stella and Hudson and reaffirming my penchant for honest, unbridled, and utterly sweet true love!!
Louisa’s 4.5 Blush Review
I can always count on Vi Keeland for a swoony story and those stories almost always start with one heck of a cover – thank you Vi Keeland for giving me the image of Nick Bateman in my head as I read The Invitation. Every time Hudson spoke, I thought of this gorgeous man and I swear it made the book even better!
I love Stella – a hard-working, strong woman. She’s worked her whole life to succeed and she’s not giving up without a fight.
Hudson’s been burned and isn’t looking to be anything more than a great dad and run his company. Female companionship, in a long term sense, wasn’t a need.
Stella and Hudson have a great meet-cute…and she handled herself like a champ. Hudson loved how she handled herself in that sticky situation and that’s when his interest peaked. He tried to deny it, as did she and there is definitely a slow burn, enemies to lovers vibe going on. This book reminds me of my early days of reading romance…the sweetness was at the perfect level and the spiciness was where it needed to be.
Vi Keeland gave us a swoony alpha male and a strong heroine with The Invitation and they melded together in such a beautiful and perfect way. What a great book to start off 2021!
