Review: TEAR OF TESS (Monsters In the Dark #1) by Pepper Winters

Whoa, I have seen people posting about this book and then a reader posted about Q.  So I did it, I one clicked.  I also have to admit that I rarely read a synopsis.  I judge a book by others reaction to it and then I one click the heck out of it.

This is Dark. And by dark I mean really, really dark.  There is murder, rape, more rape, sexual abuse, slavery, pain, torture, and that is just the surface.

OMG!

Besides this book being totally crazy and intense, its not what you think.  Just when you think you know everything, bamn you don’t total surprises.  It also is the type of book you need to sit down for and be prepared to forego house work because you will want to do nothing else.

Here is the kicker…. This may be one of the hottest books I have ever read.  I have to admit I felt a little bad thinking somethings were hot because it was so wrong and thankfully in the end Winters basically says here now don’t feel as bad as she throws out a few twists.  Still maybe the craziest and sexiest book I have ever read.

What an intense, dark, sensual read! Pepper Winters takes you deep into the dark desires of Tess and Q and tosses you in to their lives to discover what drives them. Tears of Tess isn’t a light and fluffy read – it includes kidnapping, human trafficking situations, and rape. Even with those intense and potentially disturbing parts of the storyline, I found myself glued to the story and unwilling to put it down until the end.

Tess finds herself in a completely unexpected situation after traveling to Mexico for a fun trip with her boyfriend. I found Tess’s strength and fortitude and downright kick ass persona to be one I rooted for. She also faces some extreme situations that test her and her vulnerabilities are also well-drawn.

“Breathing hard, my entire body wanted to weep, but my eyes remained dry. These men didn’t deserve my tears.”

Q…how to describe and understand Q…I don’t know if that’s entirely possible. And even more so without giving potential spoilers. He is captivating and mysterious with this magnetism that is impossible to ignore. The moments between him and Tess had my head feeling like I had whiplash and my heart in my throat.

“You may not be mine, but I’m fast becoming yours.”

Pepper Winters delivers a very hot, erotic, painful-at-times story that had me wondering what was going to happen next. I was completely caught up in it and highly recommend it. It may push some boundaries for you, so heed the warnings about what is in the story. But if you can go beyond those, it is well-worth the read!
