Review ~~ Out of Frame by Megan Erickson
Out of Frame (In Focus #3)
Perpetually shy, Quinn Mathers is content to remain in the shadow of his brash best friend Jess Hartman. But before their college graduation, he and Jess have planned one last hurrah: a spring break Caribbean cruise.
And it won’t be just any cruise. On board are members of the reality show Trip League, which follows young twenty-somethings on adventures around the world. Since the show’s beginning, Quinn has been fascinated by J. R. Butler, with his amazing body, warm eyes, and killer grin. Unfortunately, he’s straight—or so the world thinks.
At nineteen, J. R. signed a contract to play straight for the show, and there’s no way to get out of it now. Yet with each passing day, Quinn and J. R. find it harder to keep their hands off each other and to keep out of the camera’s frame. But when the lens finally focuses on them, J. R. must decide if he’s willing to risk his career by admitting his bisexuality, and Quinn must determine if he’s bold enough to stand in the spotlight with the man of his dreams…
I’m trying to find something wrong with it and I just can not. Out of Frame is perfect. It’s a seriously fun read, despite its drama and emotional content. A bunch of college kids on a cruise ship filming a reality show… It made me want to party right along with them. Out of Frame is the more feathery of the three books in the series, but don’t be mistaken it still deals with some very real issues. The entire Trust series by Megan Erickson is damn near close to perfection. All the books are inspirational. In true Megan form, she must bring you to the lows, before she can make you appreciate the highs. Once you meet her boys you will understand. Each of them has something special…
In Out of Frame, we meet JR and Quinn. I fell hard for them! Each tugging at my heart for different reasons. Both struggling with who they are and who they want to be….
Quinn has always been the guy in the background. Always unnoticed. His family is overbearing and over protective. His whole life is about planning, worrying and over thinking his future. Never living in the moment. Going on this cruise with his best friend Jess, is hopefully just what he needs. Time to let go and party. His secret crush from the reality show is on the cruise too. JR Butler portrays himself to be very straight man with a girlfriend and huge angry chip on his shoulder…. But unbeknownst to Quinn, JR is a closeted bi-sexual with a very wrong reputation. When they meet sparks fly. Sadly, JR has to hide who he really is, do the contractual reasons with his producers and agent. Their relationship starts off innocent. Just two guys getting to know each other. A blooming friendship that turns into yearning…. I loved getting to know these boys individually and together. They are wonderfully lovable characters that will make your heart break and sore. Bravo to Megan for yet another beautiful love story. As always, I am dying for more!
Life is too short not to be true to your self!
