Review ~~ Lighter by Gia Riley
What do you do when you can’t save the one you love?
Sophie can’t survive without control. Growing up with an alcoholic father, she craves the discipline of gymnastics. Feeling lost on a brand new college campus, she lets loose for the first time in her life. But with freedom comes consequences. Is one night everything she hopes? Or will she become her own worst nightmare?
Kipton’s one year away from graduation. He’s never thought beyond a one night stand until meeting his sister’s new roommate. Finally setting his sights on the girl he can’t resist, he’s more determined than ever when she won’t give in to his persuasions. He’s always gotten the girl, and he’s not about to give up without a fight.
Will Sophie be able to salvage her dreams and wage a war against her own vices? Can she finally let love in? Or will history repeat itself causing her to self-destruct?
Lighter isn’t your typical college romance. Darkness suffocates, dreams are dashed, and battles are lost. Love takes on a whole new meaning.

Kristine’s 5 Star Review
Stories like this is why I love to read! With such a beautiful cover and my most favorite symbol to first catch my eye, I had no idea I was about to embark on such an angelic and inspirational journey. Thank you Gia Riley for writing such a captivating story.
I was fascinated with this, the characters drew me in causing me to fall in love from the very beginning. Writing about such emotional and devastating things, Gia’s words where magnificent at making me feel. Feeling and relating , like I’m there invisible to the characters eyes, picturing them perfectly and wanting to comfort them. That’s how I felt the entire time! Gia’s descriptions of the surroundings engulfed me in so much I felt like I was breathing the air. Forgetting where I was and excited to read more when life pulled me away and I had to make myself put it down.
Thinking about Kipton and Sophie while I was away and looking forward to going home to read more! Gia writes in ways that keep you wanting more and never wanting it to end. This was my first book that I’d read from Gia and now I will be off to read her others.
Lighter is not the normal college romance we are use to reading. These characters are not the typical, college care free students. One has a past she wants to forget but her mind won’t let her. And the other is living the college life but feels like he is missing something.
Sofie lands a spot at a school that she’s always wanted to go to. Gymnastics being her drive to succeed and live a normal life. She starts her semester with only a few things on her mind, studying and bringing the best for her team. But what she doesn’t see coming is the slight turn and haste decision she will make. One night is what it took to start her challenging journey.
What and who will bring her back and fight for the life she deserves.
Kipton….. let me just say this now, this is the one of the sexiest names, my lady parts throb every time I see it! Now Kipton is every girls dream guy. A fun, popular wrestler with a heart of gold. Yes he is a ladies man and yes he is living it up in his college years having done all those silly guy things. Hes about to find out that maybe he is missing something or somone in his life. He meets his sister’s roomate and feels like she is somone very different from anyone he’s ever met. She fascinates him and he wants to know her more. What he doesn’t realize is she wears an invisible cloak to hide all the things he may fear. Is his strong wrestler exterior strong enough to unravel the cloak or is his adorable , melt me to butter sweet heart gonna do it?
So to sum this up, if you are reading this review then you need to read this ASAP! You need to meet Sofie, Kipton, and Cara! They are why I love this story. I loved meeting them and to read about their lives. The way they are together, you’d be the luckiest to have friends like them. Lighter is a heartwarming story that should be read by everyone. A story of sadness, strength, love and frienship. Fate also plays a role, hopefully people who hit the bottom, find somone to help them float to the top, that there are many other kiptons and caras out there.
Thank you again Gia for writing this story it touched my heart and will continually touch others too!
