SANDY’S 4.25 BLUSH REVIEW
B**4.25 Blushes**
Brad Brisken as a boss is a jerk! A smoking hot, sexy, very successful jerk that can’t keep an assistant to save his life. His brother’s hire him one at a very healthy salary to keep his professional life in line.
Sonia Vanducci is smart, competent and very snarky. I loved that about her cause it reminded me of ME. She knows all about his hit it and quit it ways with women. Her salary allows her to live a comfortable life so she’ll deal.
I’ve worked for a guy whose unbearable and just a terror to everyone that works under him. Then one of his daughter’s would call, and his personality would completely flip as if he were a different person. That’s Brad in a nutshell. He sees what his brothers have and wants it for himself, though it seems to elude him. His nieces are the great loves of his life. His secretary, Sonia, runs his days with precision but he’s never looked at her as a woman to fill his nights. Until a sticky family situation forces him to rely on her outside of the office and things start to get interesting.
Sonia then has a situation of her own to deal with – a wedding. Her best friend from college is getting married, and Sonia is part of it. UNTIL – her ex-boyfriend is invited to said wedding AND his plus one is the incarnation of a living Barbie doll. Sonia can’t go alone and look like a total loser?! She could see her boss to be her “date.” One hand washes the other. He owes her big time, and they strike a deal. He’ll play nice and be her date, but they’re going to do it his way. Except Brad is used to getting his way and Sonia is used to not taking his nonsense.
I wouldn’t exactly call this enemy to lovers though the back and forth banter between them was adorable. Things don’t heat up right away, and that was ok with me. It felt more organic when they start to realize that there is something between them.
Brad’s needs help with his nieces, and Sonia needs an impressive date for the wedding. They both start to discover that they really didn’t know each other at all. They need each other. Sarah is coming of age and missing her mom and angelic Mary who has everyone wrapped around her little finger. The kids added a sweet punch to the heart. Sonia and Sarah ditch Brad, so they lunch and girl chat. Mary was saying please with simultaneous kisses until she gets ice cream. They enriched Boss I’d Like to Hate.
The characters were solid. The pacing felt easy. Mia Kayla, made this uber used plotline feel fresh, funny and sexy instead of it just being more of the usual. This was definitely a make you smile and feel good kind of romance.
Can we have the background stories on the other Brisken Brothers, please?

“One of the best office/enemies to lover books I’ve read.
Brad and Sonia were so cute! I loved their banter, I loved the way they were with their families. I loved everything about this book. Addictive, funny and so amazing!” – Early Reviewer
“Perfectly written, unique, wonderfulness. I will be rereading this over and over again. One of my top ten books ever! Mia Kayla knocked this one out of the park, she left me with more feelings than I knew what to do with. The ultimate book hangover ( I mean hangover like I couldn’t get over it or stop thinking about it), nothing could compare. I had a really hard time reading anything else after this book because it was just that good!” – Early Reviewer
