Note: This story is based on Kingsley’s past/present. She was introduced in the first book, In the Air. (Check out our review here!) This book is not a continuation from In the Air, so you don’t necessarily have to read the first book to understand what’s going on in this one.
Synopsis
I wasn’t a typical teenager.
I’d been through more rough patches than a weed eater.
I didn’t grow up behind a white picket fence.
I didn’t go to Sunday school.
My body was no temple, though it was worshiped by many.
Girls kept their boyfriends away from me for good reason.
I was desired.
Wanted.
Admired.
While my friends were following the rules, I was breaking them.
I’m careless.
Reckless.
Uncontrollable.
I don’t apologize for who I am.
I embrace it.
But all things must come to an end.
He was my new beginning.

Abby’s Review 4 Stars
In control is a story about learning to love. We met Wren and Kingsley in In the Air. (Our review) I was so curious about Kingsley and what her story was at the end of In the Air and that is usually not me. I could usually care less about sub characters but you just know that Kingsley’s story is going to be intense. Kingsley is a sexually charged ballerina who has been bumping uglies with Wren for a while. Way longer then she normally will let a man do the deed.
You are very drawn into Kingsley and her pain. She has endured so much. This story is her journey into her past and also it is a story about her future. She has a lot to let go of.
This is a fast read and definitely not as sweet as the first book in this series.
It is supposed to be a standalone, however, I do think that the reader will be slightly confused without both books. I also wish that there was a tiny bit of dance involved in this story. I really loved that element in the first one.
Overall this was an enjoyable read, with good lines and a strong female lead that has you rooting for her all the way through.
