When ME Carter came out with her debut novel Change of Hart, although it was a good start for ME Carter’s writing career, I wasn’t NEARLY as excited as I am about her second book, Heart to Heart! Not even CLOSE!!!
Hart to Heart is MILES apart from Change of Hart in every single aspect. ME Carter’s writing has jumped to another level in such a short amount of time. Her growth is tremendous and I couldn’t be more proud of her!
What a story! And it ain’t pretty kids! So beware! This story isn’t your lovely dovey, oh how sweet kind of book. It punches you in the gut over and over again. It will melt your heart in a million ways and then put it in a meat grinder. And you want to know why? Because it’s REAL and RAW and can totally happen and probably HAS happened to many families unfortunately.
The turmoil, decisions, & trauma this family goes through is unthinkable… unimaginable… And yet they do. How much can one family take before breaking? Before crossing the line of insanity because you’re feeling hopeless and as though your’e an invalid as a parent? Beats me, because I KNOW I wouldn’t be about to withstand this amount of inner challenges of strength as a parent, spouse or even human.
This time around ME Carter’s main man Jason Hart was THE MAN… His strength and support as a man and husband to Addison and father to Jaxon is unmeasurable. He never wavers. I FELT every single emotion from him… his love and compassion but also his frustration his solitude and sadness. I HEARD every single thought that was being processed through his head. and he commanded me to LISTEN and HEAR him.
Addison was so different this time around too. Her strength was that of a warrior. To do ANYTHING and I mean ANYTHING to protect her child. Putting herself in danger without thought. Irrational thinking because your baby is in trouble. TRUE mama bear tactics. And you feel for her… and you CRY for her… but you also cry for the constant blows she endures.
Jason Hart and now Addison Hart (Yes, they got married- YAY!) mesh so well and their relationship developed so much since last book. I kind of wasn’t buying it before- but I am MORE than sold in Hart to Heart.
Hart to Heart was an EXCELLENT read! Grab your tissues and snot rags because your’e going to need them. But it’s a cry worthy book because the issues dealt with and that are brought into the open in this book are REAL! There are families dealing with these issues as I write this review. I hope this raises some awareness. Hear the message. Think about making a difference! You could change a life!
