So Dawn read this one way back in April and now it is September. It was a 5 star read for her. She kept telling me that I would like it and that I should read it. But you know how it is. You get busy reading the next book that just came out. Finally I had some down time in my crazy reading schedule. So I thought I would give it a try.
Let me just say,
DAWN WAS RIGHT!
This read is refreshing, funny and sexy! I found myself texting my BFF telling her I was reading a good book with best friends in it. And I just felt like I needed to tell her how grateful I am that she is who she is. I love the bond between the girls. As a female, my girlfriends and I have often said if you were a woman from Sex and The City who would you be? This makes you think the same thing. Which one of these four girls are you most like? It also has you relating and rooting for them.
Refreshing! The love story here is simply that, refreshing. I love how the love story here is built. They actually build it. Nik and Tina, although have an instant attraction their relationship is built on something meaningful, friendship. So often I read a book and it’s like oh I saw him and he claimed me and said you are mine and then they lived HEA. Although that can be a sexy read, I think somewhere in the back of my mind when I read this I am like ok, how often does the whole love at first sight thing really happen. The love story here is very believeable.
Besides all of Tina’s awesome friends, Nik has a slew of his own brothers. Tina builds relationships with some of them and her girlfriends also build some too.
I am not always a fan of books about sub characters, however, I can tell that this series is one I will want to know all about her friends. In so many ways they felt like such a huge part of this story.
I loved that this book had some ethnic origins too. It made so much feel real.
I am going to prob take a few days off between books, but I can see myself reading the next book in the series very soon. I also would reccomend to anyone to pick this up!

Le Sigh…Oh how I loved Friend-Zoned and meeting Niki and Tina, Nat and Ghost, Lola and Trick, Max and Mimi! I can’t count how many times I laughed out loud at the thoughts of both Tina and Nik. Belle Aurora does a fantastic job of moving back and forth seamlessly between their different POVs.
There were also very heartbreaking moments when she is barely holding herself together from the hurts and pain of her past. She has a HUGE heart and is seemingly together but beneath the surface is some deep hurt that has not healed. Then, she meets Nik, or Niki. Yummy Russian hottie from across the street.
I’ll admit I can’t see his face very well from across the street but I can see enough of his face to see he is hot. As in hawt. And the rest of him is just as impressive.
He’s wary of women, believing they are all looking at him for his money. He’s a reformed thug with a body to swoon over! Tina comes barreling into his life and nothing is the same! Particularly when she places him right into the friend zone.
…I’m thinking so hard I’m sure she can see my brain moving around through my skull! I haven’t noticed she started to speak. ‘…So we can be friends right?’ Wait, what? I stare at her, a frown forming on my mouth. Did I…? Did I just get Friend-Zoned? I look over again to see Tina nodding vigorously and smiling brightly. Wow, this has never happened to me before.
Tina brings a spitfire attitude, delicious baked goods, and a huge capacity for love. They both have to learn to face their hesitations and deal with their pasts in order to find a potential future together.
Suddenly he pulls back and whispers ‘I’ll give you time, baby. But do me a favour, will ya?’ I nod and he says ‘Remember how you feel when you kiss me. Because if it’s even a small piece of what I feel when I kiss you, there is no question about what you should do.
Swoon! This is a rich, fulfilling story about friends and family and discovering how to live life to its fullest. There’s some danger involved with a nasty guy from Niki’s past, unresolved issues from Tina’s past and lots of action and humor! I truly felt a part of Tina and Niki’s circle and I can’t wait to read more in this series!
