Stephanie’s 4 Blush Review
Roughing the Kicker is book #1 in the Saints and Sinners series, which, is a spin-off of the Thin Love series. It can absolutely be read as a stand-alone. Eden Butler has a talent of taking your heart and ripping it out of your chest for a while and then she puts it all back together. Although sometimes it may take a book or two…
Roughing the Kicker has it all. Drama, angst, sports and breaking barriers. Reese Nobel is the newly signed, first ever female place kicker for the NFL. She is smart, beautiful and talented. Being drafted to the Steamers has brought her face to face with her first love, quarterback Ryder Glenn. Things didn’t end on a good note 10 years ago…
“You used to be a man of honor. Solid. Real. Now…this…”
“If you can’t be that man off the field, then you better dam well do it on. Earn your overpaid, inflated salary, carbron.”
Reese and Ryder experience many emotions all while trying to interact day in and day out. Their past is like a heavy weight wrapped around them. The regrets, the emotions, the ‘feels’. Reese is a constant reminder of good and bad times. Realizations are made. Will the risk be worth it?
“People don’t stop being important to you when they’re not around anymore. If they matter, you find ways to keep them important.”
The story is well written. The only issue I had was the introduction of so many new characters. It was a lot to take in. But as this is book #1 in the series I expected as much. They also have a story to be told. I think that we will have Gia’s story next. She is the Steamer’s General Manager. If that is the case then I need to stock up on my tissues now!
“Y’all….this book has everything….hot sweaty football players, kick ass strong ass women, Nola and romance.” – Jennifer Holt
“The writing was absolutely incredible, the emotions and feelings so real and relatable. I can see myself reading this book over and over again.” – Ashley Wilburn
“Eden Butler take a bow!……This story is full of so many emotions animosity, grief, elation, mistrust, fear, jealousy and guilt, so prepare for one almighty roller coaster ride.” – Reading is Our Satisfaction
