The thing I love most about Devney Perry’s books is the way she can take the smallest town in American and make you want to live there. From her descriptions of the scenery to the wonderful members of the town who are always ready to lend a hand and welcome you to their homes, Perry takes you to remote places and makes you want to stay. I have completely fallen in love with some of the towns Perry has written about, and Summers West Virginia is no exception.

One of the things I loved most about this book was the premise behind the new series Perry is writing. A bunch of runaway kids living in a junkyard trying to escape unimaginable lives at home to save themselves and their futures is a really unique premise that excites me. This first runaway kid we meet is Londyn, all grown up and escaping a marriage gone bad. Londyn is strong, beautiful and in need of someone to really love her and take care of her. Enter Brooks. The handsome tow truck driver/auto mechanic that saves her day.  Londyn and Brooks embark on a slow-burning romance which happens to be exactly what both of them need. I would have rated this book higher because it still contains all of the elements of Perry’s writing that her fans love, but I didn’t connect as well with these characters. That being said, the end of Runaway Road sets up for the next book in the series, Wild Highway and I can’t wait to read it!
