#ReleaseDay #DualReviews ~~ Tinsel by @devneyperry
Sofia Kendrick has always cherished her tiara. As the youngest daughter of a wealthy New York family, she’s lived the life of an American princess. But after two scandalous divorces and a breakup smear her name across the society rags, the shine from her crown has dulled. People call her superficial, even gaudy.
She’s nothing more than tinsel.
Desperate for escape and starving for peace, Sofia heads to Montana for a holiday weekend with her brother. But she doesn’t get the relaxing vacation she planned. Instead, she’s put to work in a bar alongside Dakota Magee—a man who does not want her help. A man who is set on teaching her a few lessons about real life and hard work. But Sofia has a couple of life lessons of her own to teach. Like how to fall in love.
Christina’s 4 Blush Review
Tinsel is a beautiful love story packed with tons of emotion. I didn’t expect to feel so affected by the story. Perhaps it’s the timing, or just how well Devney Perry writes. This love story is not only emotional but complicated.
In Dakota, we have an extremely proud, hard-working man who dreams of establishing himself and being successful. Sofia is quite the heroine. She’s a tad spoiled and underwhelming in the beginning, but by the end she’s truly redeemed herself. She’s perfect for Dakota in unusual ways. These two characters are really different but when they come together you can help but root for them to last. There’s a bit of a twist towards the end of the book that really hit me hard, and broke my heart a little. I really felt the pain of these characters and while their love isn’t perfect by the end, it’s actually perfect for them. I like Perry’s characters. I feel like they are relatable. Love isn’t always hearts and flowers. Sometimes it’s messy and complicated. I like the truth in Perry’s words and in her characters. For fans of Devney Perry, Tinsel will be another slam dunk!
Louisa’s 4 Blush Review
WOW…what a great story. What a roller coaster of emotions!
You want to dislike Sofia for her spoiled little girl ways in the beginning but when put to the test, she sneaks into your heart and redeems herself. Sofia has grown up doing really – nothing. Being a rich girl is what she’s known for.
Dakota…this man is what every girl wants in a man – hard working, dedicated, loyal man. He’s making it on his own, without his parent’s help or approval. He and Sofia are from opposite ends of the spectrum in that respect.
Thrown together in a “trust me” move by her sister in law, Sofia and Dakota have no choice but to get to know each other. This isn’t a story of girl heals a broken man (or vice-versa), these two teach each other so much. Watching them become friends and more was an absolute joy.
Devney Perry continues to delight me with her stories and beautiful writing style.
