On the northeast side of town, there is a house.
The house was once magical, filled with love and joy and plans for the future.
Inside its walls are many things that belong to me — my books, the china from my mother on my wedding day, the beautiful cage once home to two birds, now empty, just like me.
And a man.
A man who also belongs to me.
A man I no longer wish to keep.
A man who, no doubt, has not slept, though the sun is rising. Because the house where he waits is where I laid my head to rest every night for eight years. Until last night.
No one who knows me would believe Charlie Pierce, the quiet, bookish girl who never made waves is pulling out of the driveway of a man who isn’t her husband.
But they don’t know me at all.
I don’t even know me.
Not anymore.
They say there are two sides to every story, and I suppose in most cases, that’s true. But the one I live inside of? It has three.
On the northeast side of town, there is a house.
But there is no longer a home.
Abby’s review ~ 4.5 Blushes!
A Kandi Steiner book release announcement to a reader like me, is a wait impatiently for it to hit my kindle experience. It’s a is it here yet– no not yet– check again five minutes later kind of author experience.
Opening What He Doesn’t Know, you are struck with emotion and you immediately know you will be pulled into a love triangle. It won’t be easy. It’s going to hurt. She warns you right away. You know it’s going to cause pain, but because Steiner knows how to weave hurt in the way she does, like an addict, you crave it.
I enjoyed this book very much. It was a quick addicting read, that be warned, is part one of a duet. I have to go stalk Steiner to find out when the next book will be released because I’m an instant gratification person and I’m left wanting.
The writing for this book was spot on.
“If she offered me a smile, I begged her for a laugh. When she gave me a sentence, I pried for a paragraph.”
I’m not sure if Steiner was projecting onto Reese what she makes the reader feel here, but I loved this line.
If you can handle a love triangle, lots of angst and a little bit of a wait, then I would tell you to hurry up and read this one, because although you will crave more, it will satisfy you in that way, Steiner books can!
PS. Love Letter To Whiskey by Kandi Steiner was one of my favorite of 2016!
Stephanie’s 4.5 Blush Review
This is my first Kandi Steiner book and wow! I did not realize that she was a heart breaker. The story is about love, loss, heart break and much more. She weaves her tale and traps us! I thought for sure that I would feel one way, but then she had to go and make me feel another. The story is intense and will take your emotions on a wild ride.
Charlie Pierce is a beautiful, sweet, sensitive and heartbroken woman. Married for eight years to Cameron, things took a turn after a tragic event and it changed both Charlie and Cameron. The way Ms. Steiner weaves together the picture of before: the happiness of a fairy tale; to the after: the despair and desolation of broken hearts is just wow! Beautifully written. The angst, pain, heartbreak, emotions and “feels” are all there!
There is a third person added to the mix! Reese Walker returns to Pennsylvania after being gone for fourteen years. He lived in New York and attended Julliard. Reese too has suffered a tragedy and is trying to find “home” and a chance to start over again. Reese and Charlie have a past together….
“Charlie and my little sister were best friends growing up, and I was friends with her brother, Before we moved, that is.”
Charlie and Reese spent many nights together in her youth. He played piano and she would sit and listen in awe. Charlie was the quiet, geeky, pig tailed girl five years younger than him. They had an amazing connection but those five years difference put the brakes on anything further from happening.
Situations change, drastically! Things become difficult. Lines are blurred. Charlie, Cameron and Reese have exploded! The debris is everywhere. Charlie must decide who will be her other half. Who does Charlie belong with? When her love is so strong for both men who will she choose?
“If I am a river, you are the ocean. It all comes back to you in the end.”
But if I was a river, and he was the ocean, then Cameron was the storm that raged over the point where we met.
And lightning was about to strike.
I felt so strongly in the beginning of the book for one man and by the end of the book I wasn’t sure who would be the better half. And I am sure there are other twists and turns coming ahead. Get the tissues ready….What He Always Knew is the conclusion! Can’t wait!
Tera’s 4.5 Blush Review
I just binge read this book in less than 12 hours. For anyone that actually knows me, that is incredible considering I’m typically a slow reader. But the fact that this was a Kandi Steiner book pretty much explains my need to binge. I have been stalking Kandi’s releases ever since I fell in love with A Love Letter to Whiskey. I have read Revelry and On the Way to You also, and well, Kandi doesn’t disappoint.
Kandi pulls us into a beautiful and heartbreaking story about Cameron and Charlie. We are described a relationship filled with love and hope that came crashing down with a terribly tragic event.
“Did anyone even see me at all, or was I as dead to them as I felt inside?”
Reese, and old childhood and family friend is back and now we have the most perfect love triangle. Kandi did a great job at actually making me hate and love every character in this book.
“…boundaries that used to exist between us had vanished, but the new ones that had taken their place were made of steel, lined with barbed wire, drenched in warning to keep clear.”
I have really no idea where she will take it or how I’d even want her to. What He Always Knew is going to be epic. Luckily, the wait will not be long. But I highly recommend binging this book so that you are ready for the love story to continue!
“I love him, Reese,” I whispered, the words cutting me like a dull razor blade as they left my lips. I knew they penetrated him just the same. “Doesn’t change the fact that you love me, too.”

About the Author:
Kandi Steiner is a Creative Writing and Advertising/Public Relations graduate from the University of Central Florida living in Tampa. Kandi works full time as a social media specialist, but also works part time as a Zumba fitness instructor and blackjack dealer.
Kandi started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.” She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a die hard hopeless romantic (like most girls brought up on Disney movies).
When Kandi isn’t working or writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys beach days, movie marathons, live music, craft beer and sweet wine – not necessarily in that order.
