A Nordic King by Karina Halle
Publication Date: September 21, 2018
Genre: Contemporary Romance
SYNOPSIS: When I first applied for the job I thought it would be like all the others: working as a nanny for an aristocratic family.
Then I got the job and found out how wrong I was.
Now I’m the new nanny for two adorable little girls who happen to be princesses.
Their father is the widowed King of Denmark.
And my new home? The royal palace in Copenhagen.
Adjusting to my new life isn’t easy but the hardest part hasn’t been the girls who still grieve over the loss of their mother.
It’s their father.
Cold, mysterious and moody, with an icy stare that seems to penetrate your soul, King Aksel may have hired me to take care of his daughters but he wants as little to do with me as possible.
Yet the longer I share these palace walls with this man, the more that I’m drawn to him. His chiseled face and sexual swagger are only part of the package. It’s in the long, intense glances at the dinner table, the way we’ll brush up against each other in the halls, the rare glimpses of the man deep inside, like the sun passing through clouds.
But no matter how I feel about him, we can never be together.
You think it’s bad enough being in love with your boss?
Try falling in love with a king.
Stephanie’s 4 Blush Review
“She’s my reckoning and savior all at once.”
The Nordic King is a standalone royal romance. It is written in a style that is similar to The Swedish Prince and The Wild Heir. There are no cameos from the other royal stories. It has a bit of everything: humor, romance, drama, and snarf snarf! I really enjoyed the story. In the beginning it almost seemed like an enemy to lovers’ story. But that was not the case….
This is a story about the widowed King of Denmark, King Aksel. He has a lot on his plate. Running his country while also taking care of his princesses. He is in need of a nanny. Aksel is brooding and dark. So serious. He has many hidden emotions. On the outside it makes him appear gruff.
“When you wear a crown, you wear a mask.”
Along comes Aurora. They couldn’t be more opposite. She is so carefree, gentle and kind. But she is no push over. She speaks her mind! A very unique person. I just loved her! She is the new nanny for King Aksel’s two little princesses and things get interesting….
“…I rarely see her serious. Her smile is something else, charming, wide and uninhibited and she must be told often how disarming it is, that’s why she uses it like a weapon.”
Aksel and Aurora are drawn to each other. There is a push and pull between them which in turn creates a slow burn throughout the story. But once that fire ignites – look out! There is steamy, hot, sexy times all over the place!
“She’s going to ruin me, I’m sure. For once I might not mind.”
But love requires bravery and they start to feel conflicted. Could this work? Could they really be accepted by the people of Denmark? How can Aurora compete with a ghost?
I loved watching the transformation of both Aksel and Aurora. She is the light and she draws the darkness out of him. I must say that I also loved the humor. Lots of laugh-out-loud moments (snarf snarf). I also enjoyed the many Greek God references as well. The Royal Romance standalone series are sexy, fun, grown-up fairytales. I have enjoyed all of the stories so far. I would definitely read another one.
“There’s something about Aurora that makes me think she’ll just make a mess of her surroundings and that chaos follows her everywhere.”
