words were poison and everything I touched got filthy. Except Iris.

Stephanie’s 4.5 Blush Review
She’d always been real, the realest person I’d ever known, and I destroyed her. I destroyed us, because I didn’t trust her. Because I was weak.
Beg is book #2 in the God of Rock series. It is the conclusion of Jamie & Iris’s story, told in Jamie/Dash’s POV. As I have said before, no one does angst like Eden Butler! Kneel took me on a ride that ended in devastation! I could not imagine how things could be repaired or redeemed in Beg.
When Kneel ended, Jamie had betrayed Iris is such an awful way. Hurt, humiliation and embarrassment. Jamie/Dash’s actions were born out of his insecurities and disbeliefs. Jamie is now looking around at the devastation and trying to figure things out. How do you figure out that showing the world a video of you having sex with your girlfriend or ‘love of your life’ was not a wise choice? Jamie is so lost. As he realizes how wrong he was he attempts to find Iris. But his search is futile. Clearly, she does not want to be found.
She’d been the only person who truly knew me. My first fan. My first friend. My only love, and I’d ripped apart everything because I’d been stupid and blind.
And, there is so much more! Will Iris forgive Jamie? Is it even possible? Also adding to the mix is Wills Lager. Wills Lager is the famous musician and lead singer of Hawthorne. What do you do when you find out the person you idolized your whole life is your father? Hawthorne sang the music that was the soundtrack of Jamie & Iris’s youth. Their love of music, particularly indie, bonded them on so many levels.
I saw the hurt. I saw betrayal, and it gutted me; even though I tried to ignore it, it gutted me all the same, and then it destroyed me.
Eden Butler does not just put a Band-Aid on things, give you a lollipop, and send you on your way. This wound that she inflicted in Kneel is deep and takes time to repair. She states “We all sin and fall and do things that hurt others. We can be greedy. We can be possessive and, yes manipulative for both good and bad reasons. The bottom line, however, is learning how to forgive yourself before you ask the same of those you hurt.” And that is why I love her writing. It is rich. It is deep. It is thoughtful.

Stephanie’s 4.5 Blush Review
Kneel is book #1 in the God of Rock series. Wow! No one can tear you up like Eden Butler! She is absolutely the queen of angst! This book had me on the edge. The emotions are raw and the story will stay with you long after “The End” is read.
Jamie Vega and Iris Daine were friends that grew into high school sweethearts. Growing up in a small town in Indiana they were different than their peers in many ways.
“Jamie had a mother who let drunk men in her bed. I had a mother who spent too much time researching projects that would make other people rich. We stuck together to ward off the loneliness. We stuck together because there was magic in the music that bonded us.”
Jamie and Iris shared an intense love of music. They traveled to nearby towns to hear indie bands play. Always chasing the music. Jamie, a talented singer and guitar player wants to pursue a music career. Iris is heading to NYU to study journalism. She dreams of writing about the music, the magic.
Jamie and Iris’s story is played out between the past and the present. Ten years have passed since they have seen each other. Nothing is, or was, as it seems. With young love came choices and decisions. Jamie and Iris have both suffered from those choices.
Jamie is now Dash Justice, Rock God. Playing music he would have never even listened to in the past. Iris is a writer. They are brought back together through circumstance. Together they are raw, emotional, angry and full of sexual tension. Their chemistry together is smoking hot!
The story takes you on a ride that will have you on the edge of your seat. I was mad at some of the choices they made, especially Jamie. And in the end….a cliff!!!! So now I must wait for Beg…..
I can’t imagine how the devastation that was left will be repaired.
