#ReleaseBlitz~~ Back in the Game by Meghan Quinn
Single dad and hockey star, Calder Weiss has put his love life on the back burner for the past five years, raising his daughter and keeping up with the demands of his profession.
But all that changes the minute Rachel Perry runs into him in the most unlikely of places, right outside the men’s bathroom. Vibrant and enchanting, she captures his attention, making it impossible for him to walk away without scoring her number.
Their connection is immediate, their attraction palpable, and their relationship undeniable. But Rachel isn’t the only girl in Calder’s life which scares him, because Calder’s daughter already lost her mother. He doesn’t want Shea to lose someone close to her again, making Rachel’s task of breaking through Calder’s wall that much more difficult.
Christina’s 5 “Can’t stop smiling” Blush Review
YES! This little novella is EVERYTHING we love about Meghan Quinn. It’s only the second book I’ve read by Quinn, the first being Dear Life which was another 5 Star for me. It’s different than Dear Life though. This story line is sweet, romantic, super sexy and laugh out loud funny. Calder is an NHL Hockey player/single Dad (yes please!) and Rachel is this super confident/funny/charming kindergarten teacher who brings Calder to his knees.
The meet cute in this story might be a top 5 favorite of mine. It’s totally unique and so stinking cute it makes my teeth hurt. I don’t think I’ve smiled so much while reading a book, like ever. This is the first time I’m seeing Meghan Quinn’s funny side and the girl is a hoot!
Some favorite things about this book:
Both characters were extremely likeable. Calder was SO sweet, mildly self deprecating in a completely charming way, as well as vulnerable and completely open about his infatuation with Rachel. There were no mixed signals here, people. These two dove in heads first and never looked back. Rachel is strong, sarcastic (in a totally charming way) and she’s not about playing games. FINALLY! How refreshing!
I loved the storyline, the dialogue and the ending was pretty perfect. I could have devoured this if it was a full length novel as well, but the pacing of this novella was so perfect that I didn’t feel cheated on the storyline. Quinn gives us everything we need to completely fall in love with Calder and Rachel!
Louisa’s 4 Blush Review
Sweet, fun, sexy easy read!
Not sure I could ask for more in a novella by Meghan Quinn. Single hot Dad, sweet with his little girl would have been enough for me, but noooooo – Meghan Quinn made him a Philly (Woo hoo) Hockey Star who’s witty and fun, a little vulnerable and sweet and sometimes a little cocky!
You will fall for Calder in the first few pages, dressing up as a princess/fairy and going into public with his daughter – just to make her happy – SWOON! He bumps into Rachel and the sparks fly. Calder will do anything to make his daughter happy!
Rachel – the unassuming kindergarten teacher who’s “bitch slapped” by his fairy wings has no idea what’s she’s stumbled upon with Calder.
The back and forth banter (via text and in person) is what made this book perfect for me. Some sexy and a few laughs – just what I love and expect from Meghan Quinn. This is a short novella, a prequel to her last Dating by Numbers Series book ONE BABY DADDY, was perfect for me (of course I would have loved more) but look forward to seeing more of Calder and Rachel in One Baby Daddy.
Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She is known to bust out and dance if “It’s Raining Men” starts beating through the air and heaven forbid you get a margarita in her, protect your legs because they may be humped.
Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing… enter her first novel, Caught Looking.
Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Oh and she loves a good boob squeeze!
