#OneClickToday~~The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren
Louisa’s 5 Blush Up All Night Review
This book came into my life after I read a really, really sad book. I need it so much – so thank you, Christina Lauren, for that.
This book was LITERALLY – LAUGH OUT LOUD. I was laughing and giggling while reading and I binge read it – up most of the night reading! It’s been a long time since I have read a book that I stayed up till 2am reading. This book was soooo worth the bags under my eyes and crabbiness the next day!
Christina Lauren continues to offer fantastic ROM COM’s with fresh new characters that I want to hang with!
I absolutely LOVED Olive and Ethan. They were the least unlikely couple and being “forced” to go on the honeymoon in lieu of their siblings was a disaster waiting to happen. The unluckiest girl in the world, Olive – may have brought her bad luck with her and Ethan had his lucky penny – so not know how their Unhoneymoon would go was a fun ride.
I am a sucker for enemies to lovers so this book may have been written just for me. Enemies to Lovers and romantic comedies are meant to be together in my world. Once again the go-to for a great read is Christina Lauren!
Christina’s 4 Blush Review
I find myself particularly drawn to storylines that feature an escape to a warm, sandy island with umbrellas in cocktails and just enough heat to make you want to dive right in. Maybe it’s because I live in a place where at this time of year, the wind hurts your face and there’s so much snow they run out of places to put the snow. Set against the gorgeous backdrop of Hawaii (and on someone else’s honeymoon), the love story that unfolds in The Unhoneymooners is unique, untraditional and surprising. Like with all Christina Lauren books, you’ll laugh, swoon, sigh and maybe fall a little bit in love. Olive and Ethan are an unlikely duo who start out as total enemies but by the end…well…you’ll just have to read it.
One of my favorite parts of this book were the cultural flavors that were sprinkled throughout regarding Olive’s family. I loved the interactions, the familial bonds and ties that were so familiar to me it was like reading a book about my own family! It just added another layer to the story that helped develop the characters in a really rich way. I also loved how our female is a twin! What a unique perspective that we don’t often get to read about. While this wasn’t my favorite Christina Lauren book (I don’t think anything will top Love and Other Words for me), I do think their loyal fans will really enjoy it. Olive and Ethan are great together, with a ton of anger, resentment, misunderstandings and let’s not forget the chemistry. Oh Lawd! The chemistry. Once these two finally get past their own hang ups, you won’t be disappointed!
Olive Torres is used to being the unlucky twin: from inexplicable mishaps to a recent layoff, her life seems to be almost comically jinxed. By contrast, her sister Ami is an eternal champion . . . she even managed to finance her entire wedding by winning a slew of contests. Unfortunately for Olive, the only thing worse than constant bad luck is having to spend the wedding day with the best man (and her nemesis), Ethan Thomas.
Olive braces herself for wedding hell, determined to put on a brave face, but when the entire wedding party gets food poisoning, the only people who aren’t affected are Olive and Ethan. Suddenly there’s a free honeymoon up for grabs, and Olive will be damned if Ethan gets to enjoy paradise solo.
Agreeing to a temporary truce, the pair head for Maui. After all, ten days of bliss is worth having to assume the role of loving newlyweds, right? But the weird thing is . . . Olive doesn’t mind playing pretend. In fact, the more she pretends to be the luckiest woman alive, the more it feels like she might be.
