NOVEMBER NINE
BY COLLEEN HOOVER
“November 9 is yet another breathtaking novel by Colleen Hoover that’s full of blushing, gushing, and heartache. I loved every page and breathed in every beautiful word.”
—Anna Todd, Author of the After series
ABOUT NOVEMBER NINE:
Fallon meets Ben, an aspiring novelist, the day of her scheduled cross-country move. Their untimely attraction leads them to spend Fallon’s last day in L.A. together, and her eventful life becomes the creative inspiration Ben has always sought for his novel. Over time and amidst the various relationships and tribulations of their own separate lives, they continue to meet on the same date every year. Until one day Fallon becomes unsure if Ben has been telling her the truth or fabricating a perfect reality for the sake of the ultimate plot twist.
Can Ben’s relationship with Fallon—and simultaneously his novel—be considered a love story if it ends in heartbreak?

LOUISA’S 5 (STAYED UP ALL NIGHT READING) STAR REVIEW
I am always so worried when I get a new Colleen Hoover book because what if I don’t like it? I am always so afraid…but I should know by now that it’s not humanly possible to not like a book written by Colleen. The question is more “how much am I going to like it?”
Many will see the synopsis and say “wasn’t this a movie”? What they will be saying after reading this book will be “This NEEDS to be a movie”. It’s nothing like anything you have read before.
The advice of her Fallon’s mother has stuck with her…
“You’ll never be able to find yourself if you’re lost in someone else.”
This statement will have Fallon making the decision to “find herself” before allowing herself to fall in love. She’s leaving LA and heading to NY, but not before she meets Ben. Their relationahip consists of seeing and talking to each other just one day a year, November 9th.
Ben is the knight in shining armor…he hears Fallon’s father degrading her and he can’t take it anymore. He intervenes and becomes her “boyfriend”. He gives her what she hasn’t had for a long time, a sense of worth. This chance meeting will change both their lives.
After this one day they decide to meet every November 9th for the next 5 years. They will not talk, text or stalk each other on social media. They find themselves drawn together on that day, year after year, ingraining each other to one another.
Colleen’s reference to books throughout this book had me laughing out loud. we have all thought it and she has put it into words!
Colleen references to book and romance novels specifically made me crack up throughout this book. Fallon gives Ben the “homework” to write a book about them. To write a love story but without the “insta-love”, “I own you’s”, the “bad boy motorcycle clubs” and the “you make me so wet” lines that make into so many romance novels (Never a Coho book). I loved that she can make light of this, as many of us readers have thought it was over the top at times.
There is a some sexy moments in this book, absolutely, it is romance, but Colleen doesn’t need the descriptive sex to make you feel the love and intimacy between Ben and Fallon and I think that’s why she’s such a revered author. She can “do” the sexy without being too descriptive.
“You have already made this the best sex I’ve ever had, and I’m not even inside you yet.”
“No combination of written words could ever do this moment justice.”
We have so many phrases that Colleen Hoover has given new meanings too
“I’ll take the Lake”
“I butterflying live you”
“Miles high Club”
We can add a new one to that list…
“Are you…booksting me?”
Booksting – Definition – “When a hot guy talks about books with a girl, it’s like sexting, but out loud an with books instead of sex.”
It sometimes it is just a book, however, this book, for me was real! As are most of Colleen Hoover’s books.
Once again- Colleen Hoover has enthralled, enraptured and absolutely amazed me with her story telling. Another 5 ++++ star read for me.
Kerry’s 5 STAR REVIEW
Once again I have gone into a Colleen Hoover book blind. I am so glad I did!
What a beautiful story about two broken souls that come together and make each other whole. I felt so many emotions from both characters, deep in the pit of my stomach, tears were shed, laughter was laughed there isn’t emotion Colleen Hoover didn’t have me feeling with this book. Colleen has written an amazing story. This book will have you feeling Ben’s and Fallon’s anguish, pain and love as if it was your own. Their journey is unbelievable and epic.
Fallon has been through something so traumatic which has changed the course of her life. She’s planning to move to NYC. But before she leaves she has a dinner with her father who is totally against Fallon following her dreams. At this dinner she has her unexpected meeting of Ben. Ben comes in after hearing all the terrible words Fallon father is spewing. He introduces himself has Fallon boyfriend. Could he be Fallon’s knight without the horse? Before Fallon leaves they make a decision to meet for the next 5 years on the same day but they can’t text, call or use social media has a way of communicating,
This book was a humorous read and is very different from anything that Colleen has written before.
