So, I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump this summer. I’ve started several books, but I was starting to sound like Goldilocks…”This one’s too long. This one’s too short. This one doesn’t have enough humor. This one isn’t serious enough!” You get the idea. I was starting to worry that I had was never going to find another book to satisfy my needs! (She says with a Scarlett O’Hara-like voice and a hand draped over her forehead.) Fortunately, my reading slump came to an end when I started reading Melody Grace’s Uninhibited! Oh, it definitely satisfied my needs.
In Uninhibited, we are introduced to Dex Callahan, a bad boy rock star who has given up the limelight and women because of a tragedy that he believes he could have prevented. And though he has given up all of the fame and fortune of being a rock star, the stage still calls to him begging him to come back. In an effort to fight the calling, Dex finds a welcome distraction in Alicia Wright. A random night of steamy passion ends with a somewhat indecent proposal from Dex. One week, no rules, no limits. Alicia is not “that” kind of girl, but when worshipping her dream guy comes to an abrupt end with his engagement to another woman, she finds herself looking for a way to forget it all. Suddenly, Dex’s proposition doesn’t seem so indecent after all!
I really enjoyed this book. It had all of the elements that I’d been needing in a book…a hot lead male who could be the seducer and the seduced, a funny, smart lead female that says, “what the hell” and goes for it, and hot, sexy, sweet romance!! WIN!! The chemistry between Dex and Alicia is evident in their first encounter and doesn’t waver at all in the book. There were a couple of “oh my” and “DAYMN” moments that had me checking to see if the A/C was working 😉 Dex and Alicia’s story is a solid 4.5 star read for me!
Unbeknownst to me at the time, Uninhibited is actually the follow-on novel to Unrequited. There is important backstory in Unrequited that explains how Dex and Alicia met and how Dex’s proposition was made. I never felt like I missed all that much, but it would have helped if I had read Unrequited first. That said, it is NOT necessary to read them in sequence.
