When pure chance pulls Ava back into Caleb’s orbit, he proposes they enjoy their physical connection while he’s stranded in Boston. Ava agrees, knowing her heart’s in no danger since a) she barely likes Caleb and b) his existence in her life is temporary. When his stay in Boston becomes permanent, Ava must decide whether to fight her feelings for him or give into them. Tera’s 5 Blush Review
Once again, Samantha Young delivers a fabulous and fresh enemies to lovers story with her latest release, Fight or Flight. I’ve said it before, but it needs said again…Samantha writes amazing characters which is one of my most favorite things about picking up a new book. I love feeling like I’m a part of their lives even for a little bit and I always walk away from her stories feeling like I’ve made new friends. I greive for them. I laugh at them. I ache with them. And most importantly, I cheer them on.
In Fight or Flight, we meet broody, rude, arrogant, but sexy Caleb Scott. He steals smart, sophisticated, gorgeous Ava Breevort’s first class ticket out of Phoenix and the fighting takes off from there. The witty combacks between these two is unlike any other couple. They are smart and quick with their retorts and it’s incredibly entertaining. But despite the fact that they can’t stand each other, they can’t deny the physical attraction they have towards each other. Neither Ava nor Caleb are looking for a relationship and what they find during a layover in Chicago is a night of passion and sex that is literally out of this world.
“The need to feel is skin against mine, to taste his lips, to touch him, to have him touch me, felt like a basic, necesary requirement to breathe.”
The story really takes off when Caleb falls back into Ava’s life… on a permanent basis. What started as a temporary arrangement of just enjoying each other physically becomes much more risky regarding their hearts. Learning just why Caleb and Ava refuse to be in a relationship is quite devastating. But no one can ignore the heart.
“It was like he was drinking from me, a deep, slow, mesmerizing kiss that made my heart slam hard against my chest. It was the kind of sweet, sexy, thorough kiss that confused a woman, because it said I meant more to him than just sex.”
Ava and Caleb are one of my most favorite couples I’ve ever read. I loved everything about them and we got great secondary characters as well. If you want a book to get lost in, this is THE ONE you are looking for.
