It’s Live~~The Forbidden by @JodiEllenMalpas
What do you do when you can’t control your feelings for someone? When you know you shouldn’t go there? Not even in your head.
Annie has never experienced the ‘spark’ with a guy-the kind of instant chemistry that steals your breath and blindsides you completely. Until a night out with friends brings her face to face with the wickedly sexy and mysterious Jack. It’s not just a spark that ignites between them. It’s an explosion. Jack promises to consume Annie, and he fully delivers on that promise.
Overwhelmed by the intensity of their one night together, Annie slips out of their hotel room. She is certain that a man who’s had such a powerful impact on her and who could bend her to his will so easily, must be dangerous. But she’s already in too deep. And Jack isn’t only dangerous. He is forbidden.
Louisa’s 4.5 Blush Review
“The Forbidden is too irresistible it has a dangerous allure and a compelling magnetism and it’s certainly going to inflict pain and anguish.”
There is some serious hype to this book. What’s Forbidden is what everyone is clamoring to figure out. I won’t spoil it for you but I will say, I was shocked when I read it, but it was no reason for me to throw the book in the trash and refuse to continue. *Heaven forbid – I was gifted a PAPER ARC of The Forbidden*
Many will find the Forbidden factor a hard limit – some may refuse to read on. I was not one of those people! I devoured this book in just a few hours.
Annie, a girl who you wish would be your best friend. She’s smart, her own boss, strong and intelligent. She’s set her sights on success and after a night of fun with her friends she meets Jack. Not looking for anything but unable to deny the instant connection between her and him she does something she thought she would never do. A one night stand.
Jack is a man that is also his own boss – out with a friend one night and admires Annie from across the room and the connection is undeniable. He has to meet her, talk to her and ultimately waits for her outside of the bar, to talk to her some more. One night with her will forever change his life, and her’s.
I loved these characters, they are two that I can’t believe I liked. I give kudos to JEM for making me love these two, when I really shouldn’t (the whole “Forbidden thing”.) Jack is so good to Annie, swoony at times, protective but not in an overbearing way which I loved to see.
“You possess me. Own me. Rule Me”.
“You are everything to me, Annie Ryan. My pulse, my heartbeat, my breath. Everything.”
Their attraction was palpable, their feelings for each other so evident in their words, actions and thoughts. Jodi Ellen Malpas has evoked feelings in me about a situation that I would normally have felt the opposite. She had me questioning my beliefs, I think this book will either be loved or hated by many due to it’s Forbidden theme. Give it a chance, I believe Jodi Ellen Malpas has done a phenomenal job in giving us a suspenseful, angsty, often not beautiful look from the other side.
“If I ever lay eyes on you again Annie, I can’t promise I will do whats best and walk away next time.”
And I loved all the British-ism’s used in this book. I found myself googling at times to see exactly what she meant by some of her phrases, but I love that it was true to it’s characters and setting. This girl is heading to the store to get some Giant Strawbs!
