Here’s to Falling by Christine Zolendz***A review this early in the morning could only mean I had to SHOUT ABOUT IT
Every girl has that one guy…that one guy who steals her heart and never gives it back.
We were all friends…until we weren’t.
We depended on each other…until we couldn’t.
We were in love…until we were ripped apart.
We moved on…even when we didn’t want to let go.
This is our love story.
**This standalone novel contains material that some may find disturbing. Intended for mature readers only.
Abby’s review 5 stars
Yo! If you’ve followed us for a while, then you should know that we have loved Christine Zolendz for a long freaking time. Everyone should have some Mad World in their life–finishing this book last night I thought, I need to do a reread.
Anyways, picture this…
Last night, I finish getting my little monsters to bed and I’m laying in my own bed, (not to be confused with the endless hours I’m stuck laying with them while reading–I digress) so I was reading while my husband is watching little fury creatures on National Geographic. I had audible gasp after audible gasp, tied in with a few “Oh’s” and slamming my hand over my mouth.
**I should’ve preambled this with my husband isn’t a reader**
I wanted him to be like what is it??
Did he ask?
So, I tell him anyways. OMG There are these three best friends, a girl and two boys since they are little, and then… and then… and THEN!!!!
I think I might have gotten a grunt in response, but whatevs! That’s why it’s 6:20 in the morning and I’m writing this review, because, HELLO CHRISTINE ZOLENDZ!
In the book, Bren is this douchebag boyfriend, who does not appreciate his woman’s love of reading. He just doesn’t get it…and…AND… if my husband was listening to me and not falling asleep when I needed to talk I would’ve told him how Jase was all,
“I just love a chick who reads,”
“I’d let her tell me about the scene in the book that made her cry.”
“Then, to comfort her, I’d kiss the fucking hell out of her lips, make her want to read a book that I was the main character in. BE A MAN WORTH IMMORTALIZING WITH WORDS.”
You read that right….
that’s what I wish my hubs heard, instead it was more like… are you listening, then (fictionally) I beat him over the head and said,”Do you know how good this is??? Do you know how many scenes I’ve highlighted? I mean seriously I haven’t highlighted this many scenes in a book in I don’t know??? Forever.
“Oh, you want another example because you appreciate my love of reading so much, great, be prepared honey, be prepared.”
“Maybe I was wasting too much of my hopes on imaginary characters and fictional plots, but I just felt like there had to be more. So much more. Was the grass greener someplace else, or was it fertilized with loads of bullshit like it was on my side.”
“They’re young and there are flashbacks and it doesn’t feel like annoying flashbacks where you are all like come on I want the present, you feel like your reading a bit of YA and then you are not reading a YA. You are reading a very grown-up book with very real problems and your heart…
“Are you hearing me honey?”
OKAY, since he ‘aint listening, hello blogger world and facebook, and goodreads and twitter….
I cried last night big fat walloppy tears and I woke up this morning and I had to tell someone about it. Totally check it out.
