Wow! Just wow. The Brit is JEM’s darkest and most romantically violent book to date. At times shocking and hard to read, The Brit takes the reader on a twisted, murderous rampage through the dark mafia underworld staring a British mafia lord and the woman he takes prisoner. I can’t really put into words how much I liked this book despite how violent and gritty it was. There’s abuse, rape, an alpha hero with some unlikeable characteristics, a very broken and tormented heroine, and a whole lotta murder. Doesn’t that sound FUN? It’s literally impossible to put this book down.

If you’re a true fan of Jodi Ellen Malpas, you think you know exactly what kind of alpha hero you’re getting. Danny Black is EXTRA ALPHA. He does some pretty serious and very questionable things even to our heroine but somehow, in true JEM fashion, we fall head over ass in love with him over and over again. At least I did. And I’m so not sorry about it.

Rose is a really different kind of heroine than we’re used to from JEM. But my heart broke repeatedly for her and by the end of the book, I had tears streaming down my face which was most unexpected. I loved her strength, her inner beauty. I loved her for Danny. I loved the book. I love JEM. Just so much love!

In terms of plot, storyline, writing style and overall essence, this is one of JEM’s best books. I’m so close to saying it may be better than This Man, but for some reason that feels like cheating so I won’t say it.

You’re in for a crazy ride but trust me, you won’t be disappointed.
