Cut Wide Open, A Bleeding Scars MC **RELEASE BLITZ and Reviews** by Abby McCarthy

One day you held my hand. One day you loved me.
Then you were gone.
At sixteen, I lost the only love I’d ever known. Thrown back into the foster system, pregnant and alone, I prayed that you’d come for me and save me from life’s cruelties. Only the next time I saw you, it was too late.
Doing what I needed to do to provide for my son, we were finally brought face to face. It should have been the best day of my life, but it was far from it. It was the worst.
That day a monster took me and held me captive.

I begged for my life. I prayed for my son. I dreamt of you, the memories keeping me alive.

You finally came for me. You were my heart. My Salvation.

But sometimes the heart is too damaged, too broken, to be saved.

And sometimes monsters have a way of coming back to haunt me.
*This is a dark story. It is intended for mature audiences. If you need a trigger warning then this book isn’t for you. I have other books of mine that I’d recommend like Current or Tainted by Crazy, but not this one.

Another captivating book by Abby McCarthy…
There are books that quietly sneak into your heart while reading and there are books that take a hold of your heart and move in and stay there, forever.  Cut Wide Open is that book.Charlie and Gunner needed each other, both in a world in where love and support would be the answer to their prayers. But as luck would have it, it wouldn’t be in the cards. Life has been tough on these two – but they continue to move forward, they are strong characters who refuse to give up.I have to be honest; this book is a tough read at times. I have often been unable to read/finish books that are on the darker side but as I read this book and the darker parts, they were needed to give me the perspective of the hell in which Charlie endures. It was necessary and needed. The relationship of Gunner and Charlie is deep, meaning full and everlasting. This book will take you from sweetness, the sadness, to despair, to hell and back.
My favorite part of this book is the relationship between Gunner and Gun. Watching them together made my heart smile.

Take the leap, get CUT WIDE OPEN and allow Abby McCarthy to take you on a journey that will change your heart.

Nicole’s 5 Blush Review

What do you do when an author you’ve fallen in love with departs from her normal style of writing and asks that you go someplace that is out of your comfort zone as a reader? This is where I found myself with Abby McCarthy’s latest book, Cut Wide Open. Unlike her other books that have soft and sweet, angst and happiness, the good guy and the bad guy, this book went to a dark place that none of her other books have gone. So, what’s a reader to do? Well, you read it and see where it takes you.

Cut Wide Open is quite the journey. What starts as a sweet childhood crush that turns into teenage first love evolves into a story full of action, intrigue, and danger. Gunner and Charlie go from two kids living across the street from each other to two adults doing what they have to do to survive. When Gunner and Charlie find each other again, what should be a happy moment is actually the beginning of a series of life altering events that force each of them to draw deep into themselves to find the strength and hope to keep going.

I won’t lie. This was a really hard book for me to read. I don’t do dark, and this book is definitely dark. As always, Abby has written a story that is strong and solid with characters that are tough as nails with hearts as big as the sky! She took a risk with this book in that she used her gift for words to paint a picture of darkness that was often times so graphic that my response was visceral. I had to put the book down and take a step back into the light. When an author can write in such a way that they can elicit a reaction from the reader that is so real that you forget you are reading about it and not living it…Well, that is something special. Even if dark isn’t your thing to read, give this book a chance. Cut Wide Open will push at your comfort zone boundaries for sure, but to be a part of the evolution of Charlie and Gunner is so worth it.

Stephanie’s 5 Blush Review

What an amazing read! The writing style flows from chapter to chapter. I love the way the story is told. It will grab you and fill you up. I had so many “feels” while reading it! I read it almost straight through only stopping because of that thing called sleep and work.

‘Maybe this road, I was meant to walk alone.’

Charlotte “Charlie” Morris has been in foster care since she was five years old and living across the street from Gunner Reed since she was eight.

‘I am here as a paycheck. I eat alone. I sit in my room. Alone. I walk to school. Alone. I barely talk. I am alone in my thoughts. I am alone in life. I have no one.’

Talk about a punch to the gut!

Gunner Reed had the picture perfect life until he was nine years old and his dad died. His life changes. Gunner and Charlie become friends and he gets her to open up to him about her life and her foster care situation. Gunner is very protective of Charlie.

‘Your eyes penetrate me. I feel like you SEE me. Not the me that hides, or the me that can walk through a crowded room and not be seen. You. See. Me.’

Then everything changes. Gunner and Charlie lose each other through circumstance. When they are finally reunited it is not how either would have planned. They are both Cut Wide Open…..

The story gets very intense. The situations are dark. The emotions, high. I was on the edge of my seat as I rode this crazy book! There were many happy parts as well. I feel that Gunner and Charlie’s story was well told. They both had burdens to bear and loved each other through them.

‘We all have scars, some scars bleed brighter than others’

Be prepared to be slashed, gashed, and cut wide open by the surprisingly dark, but incredibly talented Abby McCarthy!  You’re going to feel this right in your gut people, so buckle up, because some parts sent my head spinning!

Abby McCarthy gives us another one of her prize winning MC novels, with Cut Wide Open.  She tells the heart-wrenching story of two broken souls, Gunner and Charlie; how Gunner finds Charlie when she’s taken by one of the cruelest, bone-chilling characters I’ve ever read, Enrico; and how they all go toe to toe.  It’s exhilarating, startling, terrifying, and a nightmare all rolled into one.

Most MC books are focused on the dirty deeds of what the club partakes in.  The violence and the mayhem that ensues within the members.  What’s amazing about Cut Wide Open is that you get the gist of the filth of the MC club without her going into it, but she saved the real gore for the degenerate that is Enrico and what he puts Charlie through when he captures her.  My stomach was in knots.  I had goosebumps on my skin.  And bile rose in my throat.  Abby did this so well!!  She really put so much effort and thought into these scenes and how to portray this bastard.  It’s gold!

Cut Wide Open is going to have you on the edge of your seat!  And THEN… You get to the EPILOGUE………………. Best Epilogue I’ve Read in MONTHS!  You’ll see…  So Go!  One Click!  Grab It! Get It! Go For It!  You’ll Thank Me Later!

Dawn’s 4.5 Holy Shit Blush Review

Cut Wide Open by Abby McCarthy went from Sweet to sexy to dark real quick. Damnnnnn. I have read all of Abby’s books and loved them. She continues to push herself and all the boundaries…. She took Cut wide open and ran with it. Taking this story (and us) to hell and back. ***Please enter this book with caution… It does get very dark. I did love every minute of the darkness, but it may not be for everyone. (I’m a bit twisted myself.) Abby did not hold back. She gave it to us RAW. Do not let that scare you, above all else it has an extraordinary love story with great characters.

Gunner Reed is the man!! He is the perfect combination of tough and gentle… He had to grow up quick. Then there is Charlie, this poor girl had everything against her right from the beginning. But she is the epitome of a true survivor. She’s only had herself to rely on. Until Gunner…. In her darkness, she had one beacon of light, the older boy across the street. He became her world. As Gunner watched her blossom into a beautiful young lady, she became his only focus. He needed to protect and care for her. What started as a fascination, turned into a deep deep love…
Unforeseen events ripped them apart. Leaving Charlie devasted and having to survive on her own. While Gunner had to live with the guilt of losing her. This is where their hell begins….. Shit gets real, real fast! Charlie had to face inconceivable horrors that left her on the brink of death and total despair. Can Gunner save her or will he be too late?? Can they get the life they always wanted?

Kerry’s 4.5 Blush Review

Holy moly, it’s amazing!  Abby has written a novel so dark, raw, and emotional at times, I can’t wrap my head around it. After reading Cut Wide Open, I really had to sit back and process it all. This is so different from her others and she has grown so much.

Charlie’s character is strong. She’s resilient in some ways. She grew up in the system not feeling loved. She becomes friends with her neighbor Gunner when they are young, but certain circumstances have torn them apart.

We get a back story of their younger years into their adult lives. They both have made choices that neither one is proud of. This is a tragic love story, but some love is tragic before we see the light.

My heart bled for Gunner and Charlie.  There were times I had to put my kindle down. My eyes burned. I was so invested in their story. Some might not call this a romance, but it really is! When all you have is love for each other, will it be enough to save the one you love?

This was so intense with many twists and turns. It’s mind blowing!  I would highly recommend this book. I don’t need a HEA, but I really needed them to have one and was happy with their ending!have one and

Tera’s 4 Blush Review

Abby McCarthy is moving up in the ranks. She is a fairly new-to-me author, as I’ve only read one other book by her. But let me say this… from her last book to this new book, she has grown. She has stronger writing, and I thought her writing was wonderful in Tainted by Crazy. But I love nothing more than to see an author’s writing get better from one book to the next even if I didn’t like the story.

Cut Wide Open… I didn’t like this story… I truly LOVED this story. I was a little scared going in; not because of the dark elements, but because I don’t usually do MC. I usually can’t relate or there’s too much focus on the bikes. This is not the case with Cut Wide Open. In fact, the MC made the characters’ bonds that much stronger.

Charlie and Gunner were dealt a shit hand. Their relationship builds slowly and they establish a trust with each other that they have never had with anyone else. This trust is one of the most important pieces of their short-lived relationship as life got in the way and decisions were made, and people were lost.

The hell that Charlie is put through is gut-wrenching. It wasn’t always the easiest read. But it definitely was necessary to build up this story. There were a couple scenes that were a little rushed and a little “too good to be true” with the situations occurring, but nothing so severe that it took from enjoying the story.

The fight and trust that Gunner and Charlie have for each other drove this story. Gunner will stop at nothing for his family and the horror that Charlie went through developed her into a stronger person instead of a weak woman who could have easily hidden from life. These two were meant for each other, and Abby writes their love story perfectly!  If you like hot sex, can handle some dark elements and are looking for a fast-paced action-packed story, this book is definitely for you!

The epilogue was great! I can’t wait to read the rest of this story!! (PSA: This is not a cliffhanger, but it does set up the fact that there is a second book to come.)
