CM Stunich Interview
We had the amazing and talented CM Stunich with us today to answer your questions during our Launch Party. Here is the interview
Please note: We edited from the FaceBook stream to place questions and answers together for readability. We have listed all questions as UAN (Up All Night) or by first initial only.
M: Sigh, my question is can I squish her up and hang her from my rearview mirror!
CM Stunich: And yes, M, darling, you sure can!
M: I <3 you so much!
L: Who are you biggest influences?
CMS: My biggest influences are the big dog urban fantasy chicks – authors like Laurell K Hamilton. She rocks some serious hardness!
T: When and how did you start writing books?
CMS:ย Well..I wrote terrible stories when I was 8 … for example “The Pet Olympics” where three different colored Labrador retrievers, a ferret and a cat all competed in some riveting ringside games. As amazing as that story sounds, trust me, you should be glad it isn’t on my list of published works. ๐
CMS:ย I’ve been writing forever it seems! It’s hard to pinpoint a time…all I can say is that I have this massive box of ratty, old notebooks with the world’s worst writing which is super fun to dig out and read sometimes…just to see what I used to think was hott stuff. ๐
UAN: If someone is new to your writing, which of your books would you recommend they read first?
ย CMS: For new readers, I would have to ask – tell me what genre you’re passionate about. I sort of have a little bit of everything… ๐ YA, NA, romance, steampunk, urban fantasy… My personal favorite is “The Feed” which is about some pretty crazy sirens\mermaids!
T: Can you tell me why you started writing?
CMS: I can’t think of a specific time when I started writing… I think I’ve always just done it. However, I never took it seriously, not until I realized that, ‘Hey, seriously…Being an author is a career choice!’ It just sort of hit me on the head about a year back and BAM, there you have it…the story of my life! ๐
T: How do you get your ideas on books that you write?
CMS: Ideas! Well, I kind of can’t shut those darned things off! I have more ideas in me than would be humany possible to put on paper. LOL. Everything from rain to popcorn to bsd ABC Family shows inspire me. ๐
UAN:ย Because you do have so many different genres that you write, do you have to work on one book at a time to keep them separate?
CMS: I don’t work on them seperately, no! ๐ I’m sort of all other the place. It works well for me because I just write the scene\book that most closely relates to my mood and emotions. Makes it more fun, too!
C: What are you currently reading?
CMS: Currently, I am reading Divergent. ๐
L: Does she even have time to read lol
C: lol
CMS: I sort of don’t…LOL. Trust me, if you love to read, do not become a full time author because you can kiss that activity goodbye! *goes and sobs uncontrollably*
L: *hands CM Stunich a shot of Jager*
UAN: Besides Finding Never *taps foot, waiting impatiently*, what books do you have coming out in 2013?
CMS: Wow…for 2013…LOL. Get ready for a hardcore whirlwind… no promises but all my current series should get completed, a couple holiday shorts, and a massive slew if new adult contemporary books which I refuse to discuss in great detail! Ooo! And a nasty, bad boy biker book for my bookclub friends. ๐
UAN: <3 bad boy bikers…how can we get in on this bookclub? ๐
CMS:ย Bookclub is called Triple M…it’s pretty sweet! The ladies said they needed more biker books so I said what the hey and started writing one to their specifications…just posted the first chapter last night. ๐
UAN: What is your favorite book?
CMS: My favorite book…gosh….um….under pressure I’d have to say Bloody Bones by Hamilton ๐ or Sabriel by Nix
T: Does your brain ever get a break from all your ideas?
CMS:ย My poor brain gets no breaks, not even during sleep…I dream about my books! It may very well kill me one day. ๐
C: Heroes or heroinesโwho comes first?
CMS: Heroines or heroines…I don’t get a choice! ๐ I just type and stuff just comes out! It’s kind of bizarre actually…sometimes I think…seriously, where the heck did this come from?
C: What has been the biggest surprise to your life after being published?
CMS:ย Biggest surprise would have to be how hard this is all is. I mean, I didn’t think it would be easy but dang! There’s more work to be done than seems humanly possible! <3
T:ย What was the first thing you bought when you sold your first book?
CMS:ย First thing I bought…I have no idea! LOL… ๐ Maybe a candy bar?
M: Out of your street team, who is your favorite? LMAO
L: Hey that’s not fair to make her choose that M you know its me ๐
CMS: M, how could you ask such a question! You know I can’t choose! ๐ You are all my ladybugs, taking on the aphids of the book world…yes, I am super lame. Always =D
M: She isn’t answering because she doesn’t want to hurt your feelings L: Seriously though, anyone who hasn’t read CM’s work, it is amazing and I am a total fan girl! I have not read anything she has written that I do not like.
CMS: Aw, thanks M! You are awesome!!!
CN: What is your favorite character that you’ve written?
CMS: Fave character is either Indigo from “Indigo & Iris” or Natalie from “The Feed”. They are both strong, independent women whick rocks! Of course, I am holding a torch for Ty from “Tasting Never” (Editor’s note: holding that torch with ya! ~dawn)
