I’ve found it’s easier to share my body but not my soul. I need no one, yet I crave her.
Self-assured and independent, she doesn’t need me—but she wants me, and undeniably I want her too. At war with myself as I battle the secrets of my past, I don’t know if I can allow her to see the darkest parts of me, the parts I’ve left untouched—undone.
As she chips away at the walls I’ve built for years, I fear those secrets will hold me hostage from love—forever.
Interview with Rebecca Shea
Rebecca Shea!!! We brought the sangria…you ready to party?! You know, this is just a warm-up to Cleveland…Speaking of, be prepared for tackle hugs come April!
Okay, let’s get this party started!
You have two book boyfriend hotties – Gabe and Landon. Who is your favorite?
There will never be a favorite! They are much like children…some days you like one more than the other, but you love them equally regardless! Gabe is perfect…he is everything you could imagine in a boyfriend. Landon is damaged but what he overcomes and grows into makes him impossible not to love.
Who was your inspiration for Landon? Or was he a collage of multiple models/celebrities?
When I first started writing Landon in Unbreakable I didn’t have a muse. I knew in my head what he looked like, but then I saw a picture of Stephen Amell and it took my breath away. He was exactly what I envisioned Landon to look like.
Have any of the characters been challenging to write?
And of them, which is most like you?
Jess was hard to write just because of what she was going through and her decisions. She was broken, so her thought processed was impaired J There is a little of me in both Jess and Reagan. A close friend who has read both Unbreakable and Undone laughs because there are little “Becca’isms” scattered throughout both of those characters.
If you were stuck in a room with three book boyfriends. Which would you marry, murder, or fu@k?
There are so many I’d love to marry and f@ck, LOL! I’d totally marry Ethan Blackstone in a red hot second. “Becca Blackstone” has a nice ring to it, eh? I’d love to f@ck Jesse Ward from the This Man series. He is seriously hot! I’m pleading the 5th on the murder!
Research (we LOOOOVE research – the visual kind particularly): Along with the visual kind, how did you research the stories for Undone and Unbreakable?
Of course photo research is my favorite *clears throat*. But I actually had to do a lot of research on Wilmington, NC where most of both stories take place, as well as received helped from a local police officer to help me better understand the life of a police officer which helped me create Landon.
Talk to us about the friendships you’ve made on this writing journey…We adore the amazing people you’re working with in Authors Off the Shelf. How did that group come together and why?
This business can be so competitive and snarky and just bizarre. We’ve found a small (but mighty) group of women that we can turn to share ideas, information, support, encourage and just navigate this crazy world with! I trust these women with my life, and am so grateful for this group. We have a lot to share—and you’ll start seeing some things in the very near future!
Anything you can share about that group (sweetest, dirtiest, etc.)?
What happens in Authors Off The Shelf stay in Authors Off The Shelf 😉 Kidding. You’re going to see some funny stuff SOON! Promise!
Which author event are you most excited about this year? Any authors you plan to fangirl over at an event?
I’m excited for all the author events I’m attending! I love connecting with readers and other authors.
And to wrap up, what has been your best author moment?
I have two author moments…first when a reader walked up to me and showed me her new tattoo that was a tattoo I had Landon get in Unbreakable. Took my breath away. It was perfect. And when I made USA Today list. It was such a surreal moment for me.
Any you’d do over?
Thank you, Rebecca, for hanging here with us! We love you and be sure to let us know what your favorite drink is so we can buy you one in Cleveland!
Thank you for having me! I love the girls at Up All Night and am so thankful to have your support! I pretty much love most drinks..margarita’s, sangria, vodka cranberry are a few of my favorites!

Sliding into their chairs Matt and Lindsay both stare at me, waiting for me to say something.
“What?” I ask.
“Is she why we’re here?” Lindsay asks coyly. I smirk and take a drink of beer.
“Jesus, Lan, I did a double take there for a second, she reminds me so much of…”
“Linds,” Matt cuts her off. He’s tired of my sorry ass still moping around because of Jess. It’s been a year since she’s moved back to California and she’s now engaged. While I know I did the right thing in letting her go, I can’t help but wonder what if I could have been the man she needed? What if I could have changed for her? But I know I couldn’t, or wouldn’t. I would have hurt her. I would have drawn her in and pushed her away, because that’s what I do. But more importantly I knew I never had her heart, it always belonged to someone else.
“It’s okay. I thought the same thing when I saw her last night. The similarities are uncanny.”
“No shit,” Lindsay snorts taking a long pull of her drink through the skinny straw.
“Jesus, Lindsay, you’re so fucking blunt,” Matt says, finishing off the beer in his mug. I laugh because I’m used to it—it’s Lindsay.
“So what, I’ve got a thing for tall, leggy brunettes,” I shrug.
“You don’t have to say that twice,” Matt interjects. Lindsay smacks Matt’s shoulder and shakes her head. “And this is why we find ourselves at Mac’s bar on a Saturday night,” Matt motions with his head toward Reagan who is squeezing through the groups of people standing around the tables.
“She seems really nice,” Lindsay says finishing her drink. She shakes the tall glass and the ice rattles together. “Well would you look at that,” she says sarcastically, “looks like I need another drink.” She cranes her neck looking for Reagan. As she gets her attention and waves her over to our table, Lindsay smirks at me.
“Reagan, can I get another Grey Goose and cranberry? And as much as I love them, I’d like to be able to walk out of here in a few hours, so maybe ask Mac to take it easy on the vodka pour.” Reagan laughs.
“Of course.” Looking at our half full pitcher of beer, Reagan looks between Matt and I. “Is there anything else you two need?”
“I’ll take a glass of ice water, I’m driving tonight,” Matt explains. Reagan looks to me waiting for me to answer.
“No thanks, I’m good—for now. I’m sure I’ll want something later.” The remark is laced with undertones and Lindsay kicks me under the table while Matt lowers his head and laughs. Regan gives me a little smirk and shakes her head while clearing the glasses of the table. Leaning into me, she whispers “Then maybe I’ll be back later.” I catch my breath as her long hair sweeps across my cheek and her arm brushes mine. But as she turns to leave she smirks and says over her shoulder “Or maybe I won’t.”
Abby’s review 5 stars
What a home run by Rebecca Shea. Landon, who is a guarded man, a hot police officer, covered in sexy tats, and rides a motorcycle, has to learn to cope with his past and let Reagan in. For Landon he has always used woman and kept them at bay, this is his story though as much as it is Reagan’s.
Reagan is a Doctor at a small practice in North Carolina. She has a personality that, you can just tell draws people to her, so it’s no mystery that there was such a strong draw with Landon. When he decides he want her, the chemistry is off the charts.
Landon is bossy but in a sexy ass way. I loved his attitude. You want to hug him and show him the way. Reagan is a lucky girl.
Reagan has her own past issues that end up becoming some present issues as well. I cried, yep Shea made this girl cry big fat wollopy tears. I was filled with hope and love though too.
I really liked Unbreakable, but something about Landon! I loved Undone.
Dawn’s Review 5 Stars
I knew the minute I finished Unbreakable that I HAD to have Landon’s story! Maybe it was the hint of his tormented past. Maybe it was his unselfishness in the face of potential love. Maybe it was the wish for him to find that one person who could make him whole. Whatever it was, it was sure to be compelling, a lot broken, downright sexy, and full of all that I love in what I read. After reading Undone, it was that and so much more!
Along with Landon’s story, this is also so much Reagan’s story. My heart broke for both of them! It’s a story of learning to hold fast to those you love, learning to forgive, and learning to let others in. There were moments of laughter, tears, and some ‘oh, crap, not that!’ I also love the inclusion of Lindsay, Landon’s sister and Matt, his partner on the police force. There were moments of true humor and friendship that had me completely engrossed in the story.
Rebecca Shea delivers snappy dialogue, a storyline that is at once painful while also filled with hope, and characters you can fall absolutely in love with. Undone drew me right in and held me through to the final page and left me wishing for it to never end! Overall, a fabulous read and I cannot wait for book 3!!! Get to typing, Rebecca, I’m itching for more! 😉
