Samantha is a beautiful young woman who moved to a new town after college with her boyfriend only to discover he was a total d-bag and unfaithful. Slade is the gorgeous, sexy, different-girl-every-night-because-he-can, lawyer who doesn’t plan to change his ways. When they first meet over the phone, it’s not for the best reason but Slade is intrigued by Samantha. Then they meet in person and there is an intense and immediate physical attraction. However, they have a few things to deal with first if their attraction can turn to love.
Slade is everything you’d want in a reformed bad boy. Intensely focused on his Angel (Samantha), fiercely protective, completely loyal once he’s committed, and bringing some serious intensity and alpha male hotness to sex. Angel is conflicted and unwilling to completely accept Slade’s dominating nature and has a fear of allowing someone to love her like Slade does. And rightly so, based upon her background. I loved the interactions between Slade and Angel, and between their friends. The secondary characters certainly added to rather than detracted from the story.
Undescribable takes you on the journey of Slade and Angel. As much as I loved the journey, I found myself wanting the journey to speed up a bit in the middle and give me more of what makes Samantha so unwilling to commit. I love dual or multiple POVs but I found myself confused at times when the POV changed and it wasn’t entirely clear whose head I was in at the time. As this was an ARC, I would expect those transitions to be more clearly marked in the published version.
About the time I thought this was going to be a predictable end to the story and I might not get what I needed to understand Samantha, I was hit with a serious emotional storm. Shantel Tessier brought out some intense, painful emotions and also some wonderfully beautiful ones. The end was somewhat abrupt but I recently read that there is a book 2 for Samantha and Slade. I’ll be interested to see how their journey progresses in book 2.

Shantel Tessier’s debut novel, Undescribable, is the story of Samantha and Slade. Sam is a woman who has known terrible heartbreak throughout her life. She has recently moved to a new city is hopes of starting over. And start over she does! She finds a job as a bartender, makes great new friends and finally seems to have found her stride. Then, when she least expects it, her world is tilted on its axis.
Enter Slade…one smoking hot playa who will pretty much do any woman with a pulse! He is incredibly good looking, a brilliant lawyer and a man-whore all rolled into one! He is the exact kind of guy that Samantha would avoid at all costs. Things start to get interesting when Slade fields a phone call from Samantha who is trying to find her boyfriend. Her voice alone draws Slade out of his self-indulgent stupor. He finds himself desperate to find out who the voice is. Samantha is equally intrigued.
Sam and Slade’s story is a love story full of ups and downs, excitement and hot sex! Though at times, I felt that the story was a bit predictable, there was enough drama and “never saw that coming” to keep my interest. The text that I read was an ARC (advanced reader’s copy) so I had to look past some of the editing issues. The story is told from Slade’s and Samantha’s points of view, but the transitions between their voices were poorly marked. I often had to stop reading and backtrack because the voice had changed, but I had missed the transition. There is one key part of the story that really should have had more play. It really was a “game changer” for me. For all of those reasons, I have to give it 3.5 stars. Tessier has a great start as a writer in Undescribable. I am interested to see how the rest of the series plays out. Yep…it’s a series. The next book is Unbearable, and in it Samantha and Slade’s story is continued.
