I preface this review to say that Thoughtful has been my most anticipated read since it was announced and so getting a chance to read this book, literally, made me cry. I have NEVER been so honored to read a book for my blog. An ARC was provided in return for an honest review.
On September 28, 2012 I downloaded a book called Thoughtless from a suggestion a friend gave me…according to Amazon, I downloaded Effortless on Sept. 29, 2012…my guess would be I began reading and met Kellan and HAD to get more.
I know many people have started this series and couldn’t “get over” the indecisiveness of Kiera, and I understand that. I am just so sad that some haven’t persevered and read them all. Yes, Kiera was so back and forth during Thoughtless with her inability to choose between Kellan and Denny. I am usually not a huge fan of “cheating” books. Thoughtless wasn’t about cheating for me. For Kiera it was about meeting the love of your life while you are with the one you thought was the love of your life.
A few months ago, in preparation for Thoughtful, I purchased Thoughtless, Effortless and Reckless on audible. And, for me, it was almost a different book. I absolutely fell in love again with Kellan and Kiera. BUT, now that I have read Kellan’s point of view it just solidifies that SC Stephan’s has made me a lifelong fan.
Thoughtful isn’t just Kellan’s point of view, it’s his inner thoughts and feelings spewed out for all to hear. At 3% I was crying, to hear the words coming from this amazing, yet broken man, made my heart break.
“ Sex was a release for me . It made me feel like a part of something bigger than myself, made me feel connect to the world around me. And I needed to feel that way. My life was full of empty spaces”
I would whole heartily suggest you read Thoughtless first. I believe Kiera’s part of the story being told first will give you the basics of their love story and Kellan’s side will bring it all together.
He tells about when he received his guitar, a life changing moment…
From that 1st moment he lays eyes on Kiera, he knows…this woman will change his life. During the book, you are in Kellan’s head; you hear his most inner thoughts.
“She meant everything to me. The way she laughed, the way she smiles, the way she listened to my music, the way she looked at me with such compassion, like she understood my pain even if she didn’t know what it was.”
My heart broke for Kellan as he watched the woman wanted as his own with his childhood best friend and savior Denny. He did WANT to love Kiera, he just couldn’t stop himself.
What I have taken from this book more than anything is that Kellan was a broken man, and many don’t want to hear this but Kiera helped put him back together. I believe many will see Kiera in a different light and understand, truly understand, how choosing between Denny and Kellan was so damn difficult.
If you have read the Thoughtless series, this book is an absolute must read. If you are intrigued by all the Kellan love that is going around, join the I <3 Kellan Kyle club! Read Thoughtless THEN Thoughtful. I challenge you to find a better book boyfriend out there!
SC Stephen has taken a fictional person, Kellan Kyle, and made him a part of my heart and soul, not many authors have that ability. And I KNOW many of us feel that way! Thank you for sharing Kellan with us, he has and always will be MY #1 BOOK BOYFRIEND!
I may have had a problem with making too many teaser with this book! I swear I may have highlighted every line!
