Synopsis: A sweet and steamy New Adult Romance from Amazon bestselling author of the Ruthless People series, J.J. McAvoy…
After an erotic one-week fling with a musician she meets in a bar, Thea Cunning never expects to see Levi Black again. Then Monday morning comes around, and she discovers that her former lover is not only her professor, but he’s also one of the top criminal lawyers in the state of Massachusetts.
With everyone in class vying to be one of the twelve disciples—a group of twelve students that Professor Black takes under his wing—tensions run high. Thea considers dropping his class, given their passionate week together and their undeniable chemistry. After all, there are other (less infuriatingly sexy) law professors on campus.
But to accomplish her goal and get her father out of prison, Thea knows she needs to learn under the best of the best—and that’s Levi Black.
But can she learn under the best, without being under the best?
LOUISA’S 4.5 STAR REVIEW
After reading The Untouchable series by JJ. McAvoy I HAD to read this book. I absolutely LOVE this author. I began this book without even reading the synopsis, because…she’s just that good.
This book is very different from The Untouchables.
We have Thea…the strong, confident, determined woman. Many have thought she has grown up in the quintessential American home. She has the mom who is revered in her field and has strong, smart daughters. As we read on, we begin the believe the adage “don’t believe everything you read.”
We then have Levi. He is a strong, confident man, who is just looking for some fun. He’s been hurt in the past but wants to try to have a good time without the added baggage of a relationship.
The story begins as other books have….just some fun, one week, no strings attached fun. But what good is the story if it ends like that? We know it’s coming, no spoiler here, but what happened between them after the week together, their relationship, the back story, the twists and turns, that is what makes this book a little different from what you expect.
The characters are so well-developed and the whole student/teacher relationship just adds to the story.
Thea has worked her whole life to be at Harvard Law School and working under and with Levi is the opportunity of a lifetime. She has spent her life wanting answers for her father’s unlawful incarceration and NEEDS to earn her spot as one Levi’s “twelve disciples”. The 12 students who he takes under his wing to mold them as lawyers. Thea has her plate full, trying to raise her little sister who is slowly falling into the “dark side”. She has this undeniable pull towards Levi, but needs to make her schooling #1, so she can help her father, after her mother has died and left it near impossible to help him.
Levi has earned himself a few names and he lives up to every one of them. His students know him as “El Diablo”
“…if you want to be a lawyer, working for it isn’t enough. You’ll need to bleed for it,”
Levi as a professor is a take no prisoners kind of guy. There is so exceptions to the rule. He may have feelings for Thea but he is going to make her work for it as much as everyone else. He maybe older than Thea but he has the sex drive of an 18-year-old, and JJ McAvoy blesses up with some seriously hot sex scenes!
I absolutely LOVE a dual POV book! We go from past to present, we have the chance to see the week of no holds barred sex and fun and getting to know each other, while they learned to deal with the student/teacher relationship! I read it in a day because I was so caught up in the suspense and relationship between these two that I just couldn’t STOP!
Another great book by JJ McAvoy!
KERRY’S 4.5 STAR REVIEW
I wasn’t sure what to expect from JJ since her last series just blew me away but let me tell you if you like hot steamy professor/ student romance then this is for you.
Black Rainbow is hot, with a dirty talking professor that will have you wanting to be in his class. But that’s not all they are on a case that is full of suspense, lies, betrayal.
The story goes from past to present which tells the story about the characters and what makes them who they are.
Thea and Levi have committed to give themselves one week of Hot Steamy Sex after the week is over they go on with there lives.
Levi is a criminal professor at Harvard he is feared by his students, Levi is also a high powered attorney that is known as the Cleaner, his first day back to teaching will never be the same? When he looks around he never excepted to see Thea.
Thea doesn’t want to believe that the man she spent a week with is her Professor, she is embarrassed and doesn’t know if she will be able to get through the semester. Levi comes off being an asshole and a hardass professor, he is nothing like the man she knew.
The two of them are on a profile case that will not only test there professional career but also there personal life.
Just a great book and you are missing out if you don’t grab this one!!
