Blog Tour, Interview with Ben & Emmy: WORKING IT (Love by Design #1) by Kendall Ryan
Synopsis
A story of heart-stopping, toe-curling passion by the beloved bestselling author of Hard to Love, Resisting Her, and The Impact of You.
Straight-laced and well-mannered southerner Emmy Clarke is out of her depth in New York City’s fashion world, but when she lands a job as an assistant at a modeling agency it seems like the perfect mix of business and pleasure. Working under the notoriously tyrannical Fiona Stone is a nightmare, but there’s one distinct perk: ogling the ridiculously hot male models who parade through the office—particularly rising star Ben Shaw.
Ben is everything Emmy’s not: exquisitely gorgeous, highly paid, and well-traveled. He’s also got more issues than Vogue. Emmy looks after Ben on photo shoots, but she refuses to become another one of his lusting groupies. Ben finds Emmy’s refreshingly real attitude to be surprisingly attractive.
Against a backdrop of the most fashionable cities in the world, casual flirting turns into an illicit affair, but when Ben’s twisted past is revealed, and the bitter Fiona catches wind of their relationship, their careers and hearts are threatened.

Interview with Ben & Emmy
UAN: Hey Ben and Emmy! Thanks for dropping by Up All Night! We know you’re schedules are crazy so we are thrilled to have you here today. Let’s get right into the questions, as I know our readers are impatiently waiting to hear more about you both.
What’s up next for you two? Are you headed to Paris or Italy or somewhere else romantic?
Ben: Actually we’re planning to stay in New York for a while, try the dating life and get to know each other’s home life and routines. Of course I’m sure I’ll have travel coming up for jobs, but for now we’re enjoying laying low.
UAN: Ben – what’s it like being a male model and having all those girls throwing themselves at you (please excuse the fact that we’re drooling ourselves)?
Ben: *smiling* Well first thank you ladies, but honestly I don’t really notice. I tend to get pretty focused at the task in front of me, and work is just work. If anything, I take it as a compliment.
UAN: What’s the craziest thing you’ve been asked to sign for a fan?
Ben: Probably a pair of panties. That she was currently wearing.
UAN: If you weren’t a model, what would you be doing?
Ben: I grew up in this industry, so I was it was a pretty natural transition, but I’m interested in philanthropic work. So if I had my way, I would do charity work. I hope to get more involved in that as time goes on.
UAN: Emmy – Girl, you’re so beautiful, inside and out! What the one thing that Ben does that just makes you melt or just curls your toes?
Emmy: *blushes* Um, he sort of has a way with words…and since he can be pretty persuasive, he makes me melt daily.
UAN: Ben & Emmy – So far, where has been your favorite place for a date night?
Emmy: I loved traveling to Milan and going to the vineyard where Ben and his mother had spent time. It was a wonderful surprise.
Ben: Anywhere my girl is, then I’m happy.
UAN: And we must know, Is Fiona as much of a bitch as she seems to be?
Ben: *chuckles to himself* Babe, you want to take this one?
Emmy: Happily, and the answer is yes.
UAN: Here’s a tough one for you, Ben – In hindsight do you think pushing Emmy into the bathroom for Fiona was wise? What would you change?
Ben: Ah shit, yeah that was my worst idea yet. I panicked. In my mind, I was doing that to protect Emmy from Fiona. I knew she’d been worried about losing her job if Fiona discovered us, so that was my solution. Dickhead move in hind sight. I should have just explained to Fiona we were together, or not answered the door
UAN: Emmy – Okay, so we have to know…about that night (yes, THAT one! *fans self) Was it everything you expected it to be? Would you have changed anything? Any regrets?
Emmy: *ponders thoughtfully* No, I don’t have any regrets. I don’t want to live my life regretting the choices I made. I know that was challenging for Ben, but I also think it was a critical moment in our relationship. It made him see that his feelings for me ran deeper than just someone he could share.
UAN: And we were quite fascinated with Braydon. Did you see the sparks we did between him and Ellie? Or do you think he’s still just out to have fun?
Ben: Braydon’s a good guy. But yes, he’s out to have fun.
Emmy: And Ellie is a character, so it’ll take a special man….
UAN: And a fast five questions for you both:
Favorite clothing line?
Ben: When I’m working, whichever designer I’m working for, and at home I go for comfort mostly. I do like the fit and sophistication of Armani.
UAN: Favorite supermodel (and you can’t say “Ben”, Emmy!)
Emmy: Well saying anyone else would be just plain mean! No way, I’m not answering that. *grins*
UAN: Sexiest body part?
Ben: Her collar bone, stomach, and thighs
Emmy: Mmmm, um, his everything?
UAN: One word to describe the other?
Ben: Determined
Emmy: Sexy
UAN: Any interesting secrets you want to share?
*Ben and Emmy share a look and smile*
Ben: Nope, we’re good.
UAN: Thank you for taking us along on your journey and for visiting us at Up All Night! We can’t wait to find out what’s up next for you two and your friends!

Dawn’s Review 4 Stars
How could I resist a book about a gorgeous and sexy male model with a side of alpha and a bit of disillusionment mixed in? Well, I couldn’t!! May I present one of my new book boyfriends, Ben Shaw…He’s been gracing the runway for at least 5 years but grew up around it with a mother who was a model. There’s a bit of messed-up that comes with that but you’ll need to read to find that out.
Then we have Emmy, who’s fresh out of college and in her first job as the assistant to the head of the model management company (Fiona, that bitch!) that represents Ben. Emmy is fairly innocent with a sweet Southern personality and a down-to-earth quality to her. Ben introduces her to some new things that were frankly hot! Some of them seemed very out of character for her, though, but I liked seeing her grow in her experiences.
I love Kendall Ryan’s books and I thoroughly enjoyed the world that Kendall created in Working It. There were sensual, sexy, swoonworthy moments and sweet, fun, erotic moments too. I was dreading what would happen based upon the Prologue as it sets you up fairly early but I didn’t expect it to go down the way it did. With the secondary characters of Fiona, Braydon, and Ellie, I felt they were very well-characterized and I have some very strong emotions about a few of them *cough, Fiona, cough*.
In the end, I found myself consumed in Ben and Emmy’s story. It had almost a dream-like quality to me. I felt there was so much still left undone and unresolved so I’m going to be snapping up the second one in the series as soon as it’s out!
