Blog Tour: HARD AS YOU CAN (Hard Ink #2) by Laura Kaye
Release Date: February 25, 2014
Five dishonored soldiers.
Former Special Forces.
One last mission.
These are the men of Hard Ink.
Ever since hard-bodied, drop-dead-charming Shane McCallan strolled into the dance club where Crystal Dean works, he’s shown a knack for getting beneath her defenses. For her little sister’s sake, Crystal can’t get too close. Until her job and Shane’s mission intersect, and he reveals talents that go deeper than she could have guessed.
Shane would never turn his back on a friend in need, especially a former Special Forces teammate running a dangerous, off-the-books operation. Nor can he walk away from Crystal. The gorgeous waitress is hiding secrets she doesn’t want him to uncover. Too bad. He’s exactly the man she needs to protect her sister, her life, and her heart. All he has to do is convince her that when something feels this good, you hold on as hard as you can–and never let go.

Dawn’s Review 4.5 Stars
I have been waiting impatiently for this book since reading book 1, Hard As It Gets, and it was just what I expected and more!! Laura Kaye drew me in with the Hard Ink men and the suspenseful story that started in book 1. (Yes, you’ll want to read book 1 to have the full story, get it here) These men are intense, ex-Army, full-out alpha males with hearts of gold. Hard As You Can continues the story with Shane and Sara. Shane did not disappoint me in his protectiveness and hotness factor, his hidden depths, and his love of a good woman. And Crystal/Sara carries so many burdens but has a strength of will that is drawn to Shane almost against her will.
Laura Kaye delivers an intense and fast-paced story that had me turning pages waiting for the moment when things could go perilously wrong for the Hard Ink crew. She blends in humor (Jeremy’s t-shirts, “I put the long in schlong” LOL), camaraderie, past hurts and finding forgiveness, and TONS of sexual tension to build a story that kept me wanting to read to the end to see how it would all work out.
Within this story, there is also the introduction of a motorcycle club and some additional characters that leave many possibilities for the stories to span out from the core Hard Ink men. (I want to know about Easy, Beck, Marz, and Jeremy first though!). There is also just enough of Becca and Nick to make my heart happy.
I love how Laura Kaye weaves the romance with the suspense and dangerous edge to the Hard Ink team’s mission. Overall, a read that kept me reading late into the night and a series that has me waiting for the next one as the mystery of the team’s disgrace unravels further and the various pieces come together. Besides, I’m just not done with those sexy military men!
