Blog Tour & Guest Post: LOVING CARA (Love Under the Big Sky #1) by Kristen Proby

loving caraLOVING CARA Synopsis:

In her sizzling new series, USA Today bestselling author Kristen Proby sets the stage for a passionate reunion under the breathtaking Montana sky.

Cara Donovan’s summer tutoring job is turning out to be a challenge—and not just because of her troubled twelve-year-old student. It’s his uncle Josh who’s the real problem. If problem is the word for an irresistibly cocky, muscle-bound rancher with a taste for tight Levi’s and shameless flirtation. . . .

Cara is nothing like the wallflower Josh King remembers good-naturedly teasing in high school. This Cara is gorgeous, confident, fun. From the moment the fiery teacher steps foot on his family’s Lazy K Ranch, the stubborn playboy is determined to corral her. So what happens when his luscious lover takes over the reins?

The first in a steamy trilogy, Kristen Proby’s enthralling novel is filled to the brim with one hardworking family’s triumphs and challenges, all the wild adventure of the modern West, and a whole lot of titillating fun.

A Note from Kristen…

Hello, my name is Kristen Proby and I’m an alpha-man-aholic.

As a reader, I want to lose myself in a story about a hot, bossy, in control man. I want him to be the take-charge type, who wants to protect me and love me and take control in the bedroom.

This is a fantasy, after-all.

I don’t know about you, but I take care of everything and everyone in my life. I’m a career woman with a family, and we bear the burden of being the all-seeing, all-knowing wizard in our lives, so when it comes time to escape into a novel, I want to read about a man who takes care of his woman for a change.

But on the flip side of that coin, I don’t want to read about a woman who is weak and needs to be saved. I want her to be funny and independent and strong. I want her to stand up for herself. Strength is sexy.

I also want her to be open to her man being her partner in every way. She doesn’t need him to save her, but perhaps she’ll allow him to help her.

Part of being strong is being open with the person you love and showing your vulnerable side. Entrusting someone with the deepest part of you. Learning that leaning doesn’t mean weakness.

These are all lessons that I hope my characters learn in each book. I want them to fight for each other. Heck, sometimes I want them to fight with each other. And in the end, they’ll be all that much stronger as a team.

I hope you enjoy reading LOVING CARA, the first in the Love Under the Big Sky series.

Best wishes,

Dawn’s Review

I’m a huge fan of Kristen’s With Me in Seattle series so when I heard she had a new series out, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the alpha-male goodness that was sure to be a part of it! And Josh, in Loving Cara, does not disappoint in his alpha side mixed with a big ole dose of sweet and romantic. Cara/Carolina is a local teacher who grew up around him but there was never a spark between the two until they are thrown together in the mutual desire to help Josh’s nephew, Seth, who is struggling in many ways.

Kristen Proby delivers on a sweet, sexy romance in Loving Cara. The Montana town that Josh and Cara grew up in is the picture of small town life. I was a little surprised that with respect to that, they had never made a connection but that’s what a romantic story is about…finding that moment when you come together with the person who makes your heart beat a little faster and make you want to shuck off all your clothes with them!

One of Kristen’s strengths is her ability to create real dialogue, with wit, humor, and a bit of sauciness. I found myself giggling at the banter among the different characters, like between Jillian and Cara. This definitely sets up for the remaining books in the series and I want to see how those play out as I expect to find myself wanting them to find their HEAs! If anything, I would have liked a little more depth to the characters and story. Josh and Cara definitely faced their challenges and I expect there will be some deeply emotional ones on the horizon for their friends and family.

With the backdrop of the Montana countryside, Kristen Proby’s start to the new series had me slipping into a light romantic read with a sassy, strong woman and the sexy cowboy who tries to make her his.
