Blog Tour: DARKNESS BEFORE DAWN (Darkness #2) by Claire Contreras
Is love ever enough?
Faced with obstacles she could have never imagined, Blake is brought to darkness and back by forces in her past she never knew existed.
Desperate to stay connected to the only thing he loves, Cole is forced to revisit his past and align himself with the people who knew about Blake’s disappearance.
Separation has forced both Blake and Cole to learn how to live under the worst circumstances, each of them alone in their own hell.
When they reunite, can they be the same two people they were before darkness swept upon them?
Told in separate points of view, Darkness Before Dawn is the continuation of Blake and Cole’s fight to make it to the light.
Her eyes glisten and more tears fall freely, but the grip on my heart loosens knowing that these aren’t tears of sadness. I lower my head and kiss her eyes before trailing down her face, consuming her salty tears and leaving loving soft kisses in their wake. When I reach her soft pouty lips, I lick the bottom one slowly before sucking it into my mouth and letting out a low moan at the feel and taste of it. My hands trail down over the swells of her breasts and continue to the hem of her shirt before I slowly inch it up and place my hands on her tiny waist. She leans into my touch, giving me permission to continue, and I inch my fingers slowly to her breasts, tucking them under her bra and kneading at them gently. She sighs against my mouth and our tongues dance sensually against one another before I pull her shirt over her head and bury my face in her neck, sucking it as I unsnap her bra. When I draw my head back from her, she clutches my dress shirt and pulls me towards her, giving me a sensual kiss as she begins to slowly undress me. She lets my dress shirt fall below us and pulls my undershirt over my head, tossing it to the side before turning her attention to my belt. The tips of her hand tuck into my boxers and she pulls everything down to my feet assisting me in stepping out of them. While I shake off one of my pant legs, she unexpectedly squeezes me, making me hiss out a breath and my heart speed up. My dick twitches when she starts to lower herself on to her knees, looking up at me through her sexy hooded eyes. When I feel her tongue circle the tip of it, I put my hands on her head and throw my head back with a moan. I begin to draw slow circles on her scalp as she takes me in deeper. Her whimper resonates through my body and causes me to clutch on to her hair.
“Blake,” I breathe. “You need to…oh…fuuuuck. You. Shit.” I can’t form words to let her know that I’m going to come in her mouth if she doesn’t stop soon. Instead, I channel every ounce of power in my body to push her shoulders back slightly. She pouts when my dick falls away from her mouth and looks up at me licking those luscious lips of hers. The way she licks and bites her bottom lip always drives me to the edge. I pick her up quickly, making her squeal and laugh in surprise before I toss her on our bed.
Abby’s Review 5 outstanding fabulous stars
Wow! From the beginning I was so caught up in this. I do wish that I reread There is No Light In Darkness to refresh my memory before I cracked this open. It starts off exactly where the last book left off. Blake is being held. As her captors have her, you feel her heart breaking. You want to protect her, but although she is heart broken being away from Cole, you can feel her strength.
Cole, OH my effin God! He is in so much pain with Blake being gone. I cried for his pain. But in all of his pain you see this vulnerability. He is this fiercely masculine, protective, sexy man. Where Blake is concerned he is not afraid to show his emotions.
This is a man that you could easily see laying his life on the line for his woman. I have no doubt in my mind that he loves her more than air. The way that Claire Contreras wrote Cole, makes you fall in love with him a bit. I feel like this is a man that will spend his whole life showing Blake how much he loves her.
This story and the story before have elements that not a ton of other stories have. It is unique. There is a mob element to it that is fascinating and leaves you thinking about all kinds of future developments that could happen. Claire says this is the last, although I truly hope it’s not the last we will hear from these characters.
This story can be violent and raw. It also has you on the edge of your seat holding on as you’re along for the ride.
My favorite thing in this story, the ending. It did something that not a lot of stories can do for me. It had me crying big fat happy tears. Tears that made my heart grow a little bigger with the love that is here. The words that are spoken, first between Aubry and Blake and then between Blake and Cole warmed my heart immensely. Rarely does an author create love so beautiful that you are crying at the beauty and the happiness but Claire Contreras accomplishes this effortlessly.
I cant stop smiling, and feeling like I just witnessed something truly spectacular.
Dawn’s Review 5 Stars!
Amazing!! Absolutely LOVED Darkness Before Dawn! I’m in complete awe at how this book drew me in and kept me wrapped up in the story until the very end! I had just finished There Is No Light In Darkness (book #1) hours before I read Darkness Before Dawn. Holy cliffhanger for book 1! That left me desperate to read the conclusion in Darkness Before Dawn. And I was not disappointed in the least! Claire Contreras delivered a suspenseful, at times painful, full-on emotional read that had my heart bursting with both pain and love.
Darkness picks up shortly after There is No Light and you definitely need to have read it before starting this one. There are a lot of threads weaving through the story, a lot of names, and so many secrets that are slowly revealed. The pace was perfect, the level of danger just right, and the love between Blake and Cole…well there are almost no words to describe what a beautiful love they have for one another! And I’ve just added Cole Murphy to my book boyfriend list…that’s one hot, romantic, yummy man with a HUGE heart.
I loved seeing the seamless way that Aubry, Becky, Aimee, and Greg are part of the story. This may be Blake and Cole’s story but they are also so integral to it. And I just have to say, Dean…you stole my heart a bit!
As I mentioned, there are a lot of names introduced in Darkness, in addition to all those you meet in There is no Light. I will admit, at one point, I had to diagram it out for myself so I could see all the connections and try to figure out how everyone tied together.
In the end, Claire did a fantastic job of pulling all the threads together and tying up the loose ends. Highly recommend this series!
