Blog Tour: BECK (Corps Security #3) by Harper Sloan
**Warning** This book is intended for a mature reading**
I’ve always been good at wearing masks. Not letting anyone see the real me. I’m content being the happy-go-lucky best friend. The strong willed boss. The independent woman who doesn’t need a man.
But the truth is I’m just as broken as the rest of you. I’m terrified that all it will take is one person to make all my carefully constructed walls crumble into fine dust. So I guard my heart with everything I have. Determined to never let anyone get close enough to hurt me again.
All is perfect until HE walks into my life. No… he doesn’t just walk. He struts his good-looking, sex-oozing self right into my space and demands that I see HIM. Making me want what I know I can’t have.
So I did the only thing I know how to do.
But he just won’t let me go.
The second I see her, I know she will be mine. I see past the gorgeous smiles and heart-stopping laughter. I see HER. She doesn’t want me to know her secrets or the past that haunts her, but I make it my mission to find out.
To make her mine.
She can run all she wants, but it will never be far enough to stop me from coming after her.
She’s it for me and she knows it.
She’s just too scared to admit it.
**NO cliffhanger, HEA, inter-connected standalones**

The Up All Night Book Blog women interview the Corps Security Men!!
Thank you guys for joining us here at Heavy’s to chat before your women join us. *swoon* We thought it would be a perfect opportunity to know more about you all…our readers are dying to know ALL about you! *wink*
You’ve all had a busy couple of years since Corps Security was established here in Atlanta. We’ve heard a lot about that time, but wanted to go back a little bit.
How did you guys meet? Were you in Boot Camp together or did you meet once you got to your unit?
(Axel) We didn’t all meet in Boot Camp. We were all together at one point or another with our unit. Top secret stuff, babe. I met Greg and Maddox before I met Beck and Coop.
What made you want to join the Marines? And leave them?
(Beck) We either served our time and just got out… or we had other issues that forced us out. For me personally, I just came to a point when I was ready to stop. I wanted to set down roots, be near my family, and start one of my own.
Aside from your specialized capability, what skills do you bring to Corps Security?
(Greg) Maddox is our tech genius. There isn’t much that bastard can’t figure out with a computer. Axel specializes in combat. Greg and myself are more security install side of the tech.
Axel and Cage, did you think Beck was being pussy-whipped and how did you feel when you learned the truth about Dee? (Feel free to share your thoughts on them, Beck!)
(Beck) I don’t think my thoughts on how I feel about those two douchebags would be a good idea. We’ve talked about it, Dee and I have both forgiven them, and we’ve moved on. Doesn’t mean it doesn’t piss me off, but they’re my family… you don’t hold grudges against family.
(Axel) It doesn’t sit right, knowing I missed it. Dee’s good at hiding, but we should have noticed something.
(Maddox) You didn’t because you were too blind with your own life.
(Axel) Don’t start your shit, Mad.
(Cage) When Dee finally told me it felt like someone had torn my heart out. I love that woman like my own flesh and blood. Regardless of what I had going on in my life it’s not something I can let go. I’ll make it up to her.
Sway, tell us, what did you think the first time you met David?
(Sway) Oh, honey child! Have you seen him? I thought what any other normal person would think… how fantastic he was going to be in bed. (giggle)
For each of you…
(Axel) Brandon… and what he almost got away with.
(Greg) when I almost lost Cohen
(Beck) when I almost lost Dee, again.
(Axel, Greg, and Beck) our women
We heard something about a piercing, (fake cough, under breath ‘Cage’) Anyone else got anything going on? *sigh, wishing we had pictures…*
(awkward laughing before they all point to Maddox)
Now, what’s one word you’d use to describe your significant other?
Any new year’s resolutions you’ve made for 2014?
(Beck) get my girl pregnant.
And to wrap it up, don’t fight over this one men, but which one of you is the best at taking care of the women in your Corps Security family?
(Maddox) Babe, you can’t expect those idiots to answer that one. They’re all going to say it’s them… so for the sake of shutting them up before they start running their mouths… Beck. I can say that. I might be a dude, but he proved without a doubt that he could blow those other two away with his feelings for Dee. (Maddox looks at Axel and Cage, who wisely shut their mouths)
On that note, we are out of here! Thank you SO much! We’ll take off so you all can enjoy your family dinner. We hope to see you around again soon!
Abby’s Review 4.5 stars
You ever want to be wrapped up and protected by a man and know that you are completely loved? Beck is that kinda guy. The kind who would wait and be patient while you figure your shit out.
Do you ever want to be wrapped up in a man’s arms and protected from anything bad? Beck’s arms have that kind of strength. They are the kind of arms to hold on tight and protect you from anything and everything including yourself. As the reader you find yourself completely wrapped up in Beck’s strength and his sweetness.
Harper Sloan has done it again! She has completely created another alpha to make you swoon. Beck is slightly different because you would never have thought from reading Axel and Cage that so much is going on with Dee. You know that there is something in the other two books between Beck and Dee but it is hard to imagine the depth of her troubles.
I would only recommend reading this after the first two books. At the very least read Axel first but I think the story will be that much better if you love Greg Cage too when you read this.
So I said this book is different, but mostly how this one is so much different is its focus lies with family, loss and courage. Courage to love, let go, be loved, heal, and feel. This is a story about family, because Axel Corps is a family. They deal with pain together. We see all of our men suffer and you want to reach out and hug all of them.
In the end, this is another home run for Harper Sloan! She draws you in with her characters and she keeps you vested all the way through. This whole series has so much to offer to so many readers!
Nicole’s Review 3.75 Stars
I just finished reading Beck by Harper Sloan and I’m kind of lost as to how to review it. Beck is the third novel in Sloan’s Corps Security series and I had such high hopes for it! I thoroughly enjoyed the first two books, Cage and Axel. They both shared characters and storylines, but for the most part were unique unto themselves. And while there was backstory in Axel that you needed for Cage, it wasn’t absolutely necessary. There was enough information to get you through. I totally expected Beck to be the same kind of story…same characters, overlaps in storylines, but still its own story. With the exception of the type of danger in Beck, the story seemed, to me, a repeat of the first two books.
Dee’s past and some of her present have left her damaged and on guard. As a result, her relationships with men are pretty messed up and usually only consist of sex. It was easier for Dee to keep her walls up if she only let men into her life on her terms and temporarily. Beck is not the kind of man who will be satisfied with what Dee is offering. He can see that there is way more to Dee than she wants people to believe. He also sees the pain that even she doesn’t want to recognize. The development of their relationship is not easy to watch. Dee is so hard on Beck, and he takes it. There were several times I wanted to smack Dee upside the head for being such a bitch to Beck! And there were just as many times that I wanted to demand Beck’s man card for putting up with Dee’s crap!
One of the things I found difficult to believe was Dee’s PTSD and depression. Oh, I completely agree with the diagnosis! Dee had enough bad stuff happen to her that she ought to have both!! My problem lies in the fact that no one around her, except Beck, could see how fragile she really was. It made me crazy that Beck wouldn’t reach out to Greg or Izzy. That Beck thought he could fix Dee had me shaking my head. I will freely and honestly admit that I have firsthand experience with both PTSD and depression, so my perspective on Dee and Beck may be different from someone without that knowledge. My experiences definitely played a part in how I felt about this book.
All of that said, I give Beck 3.75 stars. It is a good follow on to the other Corps Security novels and it sets up the reader for the next one. It is an easy read and it did have more moments of awesomeness that not! Honestly, you can’t have read Cage and Axel and NOT read Beck! It is the next part of the Corps Security story!
Dawn’s Review 4.5 Stars
Talk about some alpha male goodness! Harper Sloan brings back the Corps Security men in this story and they are just as hot as ever! In Beck, we get to see John Beckett’s (Beck) and Dee’s story. I read all three back to back (Axel, Cage, and then Beck), and in doing so, could see what an excellent job Harper Sloan does in creating the characters’ voice, the dialogue, and situations that are unique to each character in her stories. Although this has the potential to be a stand-alone, I would highly recommend reading both Axel and Cage before reading Beck. There are some things in this story that would definitely spoil the others for you and I feel you’ll have a deeper connection with Beck and Dee by doing so.
I really liked how the story went back in time slightly and gave a different perspective on what happened in Axel and Cage, but not so much that it was a complete rehash. As much as Harper Sloan writes a strong alpha male, I felt in each book that her female lead was also just as strong, if not stronger at times. Dee had a lot of things going on in her life that slowly begin to be told but deep down there is a strength to her that fits well with Beck. And Beck…what can I say, but wow – he had some serious devotion and commitment to Dee.
There’s a part in this book that I DID NOT expect! About 80% in I think I could have been knocked over with a feather after what happens. And then there’s a part with Sway that just rocked me back on my heels!
Harper Sloan brings together some yummy alpha males, the women in their lives, and some very real issues to her story. Overall, this is a steamy read that also tackles some tough issues.

About the Author
Harper lives in small town Georgia just a short drive from her hometown of Peachtree City. She (and her 3 daughters) enjoy ruling the house they dubbed ‘Estrogen Ocean’, much to her husband’s chagrin. Harper has a borderline unhealthy obsession with books; you can almost ALWAYS find her with her ereader attached. As an ex-reviewer and blogger, Harper’s passion for reading runs deep. It wasn’t until ‘Axel’ decided to take up residence that she realized her true calling.
She started using writing as a way to unwind when the house went to sleep at night; and with a house full of crazy it was the perfect way to just relax. It didn’t take long before a head full of very demanding alphas would stop at nothing to have their story told.
