Kudos to Tijan! She has done a phenomenal job with her new release of Bennett Mafia. It’s definitelt a top read of the year for me and I literally could not put this books it. This book is darker than anything she has written so far. Tijan is always a one-click author for me regardless of the genre. You can’t compare this book to Carter Reed or Cole… Bennett Mafia is in a league all its own.
Kai Bennett is handsome, controlling, and protective. His character slowly grew on me as I didn’t like him at all in the beginning. We had to get in his mind and see what made him tick. I came to understand him… he loves his family and will do what it takes to keep them safe.
Riley’s character was likeable from the start. She lives by her own rules. She has a job that requires her to takes risks, but she believes with her heart that what she is doing what she must to save someone.
When Riley and Bennett first get together they dislike each other and what they do for a living. They say opposite’s attract. The tension is so thick between them. This book is full of suspense, drama and some laughable moments. However, the story left my mind blown. We get to see Bennett’s siblings throughout the story and my heart bled for them. Riley and Bennett have been through so much in their young lives, but when it comes to family they are a united front. If you’re looking for a book that has everything, this is it. And Tijan has really outdone herself.
SUMMARY:
There were always whispers about my roommate at Hillcrest Academy.
The wealthiest of the wealthy sent their kids to our boarding school, and Brooke Bennett had been at the top, though I never quite knew why. She was fun and outgoing, but she kept quiet about her family. The only things she showed me were photographs of her brothers.
I became fascinated with her second-oldest brother. Kai Bennett.
He was the most of them all. Smoldering. Hypnotic. Alluring.
Kai had eyes that pulled me in and a face that haunted my dreams.
Then I met him.
He came to our school with their father, and that’s when I learned what kind of family Brooke came from. They were mafia, and Brooke’s oldest brother was dead. Her father said accident, but Brooke said murder.
Three months later, her father died, and Kai became the head of the Bennett Family. Brooke left Hillcrest for good, and that was the last time I saw her.
Fourteen years later, I’m staring at her face on the television. Brooke is missing.
Two days later, Kai Bennett kidnaps me.
