I am so excited I let my friend (you know who you are) pretty much bully me into reading this series. I usually don’t go for the paranormal/vampire books, but I will forever be in her debt for suggesting this series.
I fell in love with Sylvain Reynard’s writing in the Gabriel series. Professor Emerson just grabbed me and sucked me in…and well, so did The Raven and The Shadow.
Sylvain Reynard is one of the most beautiful writers I think I have ever written. I have never been to Italy but after reading these books I feel as though I have been there. I also believe that there is truly and underground network of Vampire’s.
Reynards writing is descriptive and keeps you reading, way into the night.
The relationship between Raven and William was epic the love in which he never thought he could feel was brought to the forefront and it surprised him and Raven.
This isn’t the handsome Prince and Princess falling in love story. Raven has a limp, a few pounds to lose and no self esteem. She believes she is not worthy of William’s love, he believes otherwise.
The Shadow picks up where The Raven left off. William wants to avenge all of those who have wronged Raven. You MUST READ The Raven first (See below for my review of The Raven)
Just a beautiful love story…and another CLIFFHANGER…I just can’t wait for more!

The Raven (The Florentine #1)
From the New York Times bestselling author of the Gabriel Series comes a dark, sensual tale of romance in a city shrouded in mystery…
Raven Wood spends her days at Florence’s Uffizi Gallery restoring fine works of Renaissance art. But an innocent walk home after an evening with friends changes her life forever. When she intervenes in the senseless beating of a homeless man, his attackers turn on her, dragging her into an alley. Raven is only semi-conscious when their assault is interrupted by a cacophony of growls followed by her attacker’s screams. Mercifully, she blacks out, but not before catching a glimpse of a shadowy figure who whispers to her…
Cassita vulneratus.
When Raven awakes, she is inexplicably changed. She returns to the Uffizi, but no one recognizes her and more disturbingly, she discovers that she’s been absent an entire week. With no recollection of the events leading up to her disappearance, Raven also learns that her absence coincides with one of the largest robberies in Uffizi history – the theft of a set of priceless Botticelli illustrations. When the baffled police force identifies her as its prime suspect, Raven is desperate to clear her name. She seeks out one of Florence’s wealthiest and elusive men in an attempt to uncover the truth about her disappearance. Their encounter leads Raven to a dark underworld whose inhabitants kill to keep their secrets…
LOUISA’S 5 STAR REVIEW
Seriously…WHY WHY WHY have I waited this long to read this book? Why? Because I don’t read Vampire books that’s why…But I LOVEDt this book. I would have never guess that I would.
I absolutely loved the Gabriel series by Sylvain Reynard and I was glad to see him and Julia again. And it was even cooler to see that I had actually had a little glimpse of William in the Gabriel books.
Just a beautiful story of an amazing woman and her vampire! (Did I just write that?)
Their lives are intertwined and they will change each other forever. And OMG Vampire sex is pretty freaking HOT!!!
If you are unsure that a vampire/paranormal book is something you wouldn’t like…try this out because I think this will be the book that sets the standard for all other vampire books…
Now – often to read The Shadow!
